And when she was baptized and her family, she requested us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and lodge there. And she constrained us.
And one of the pharisees asked Him to eat with him: and He went into the pharisee's house, and sat down.
And as He spake, a certain pharisee asked Him to dine with him: and He went in and sat down at table.
Jesus saith unto them, Come, and dine. And none of the disciples presumed to ask Him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.
Then he invited them in, and entertained them that night. And on the morrow Peter set out with them; and some of the brethren from Joppa went with him.
and if any of the unbelievers invite you to an entertainment, and ye have a mind to go, whatever is set before you, eat, asking no questions for conscience-sake.
When thou art invited by any one to a wedding, do not sit down in the uppermost place, least one more honorable than thou be invited by him; and he who invited thee and him, should come and say to thee, Give place to this person, and then thou begin with shame to take the lowest place. But when thou art invited, go and sit down at the lowest place, that, when he who invited thee cometh, he may say to thee, Friend, go up higher: then wilt thou have honor before them that sit at table with thee:read more.
for whosoever exalteth himself shall be humbled, and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. (for they were fishermen,) and Jesus said unto them, Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men:
as were also James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, Be not afraid, from henceforth thou shalt be a captor of men.
Then Jesus looked upon him with affection, and said to him, One thing thou wantest; go, sell all that thou hast, and give it to the poor; and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross and follow me.
Jesus replied, If thou wouldst be perfect, go, sell thy estate, and give it to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come and follow me.
But when Jesus heard these things He said unto him, Thou yet wantest one thing, Sell all that thou hast, and distribute to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
Come unto me therefore all ye who are labouring and oppressed, and I will give you ease. Take but my yoke upon you, and learn of me, (for I am meek and lowly in heart,) and ye shall find refreshment to your souls: for my yoke is easy, and my burthen is light.
Then will the king say to them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
and saith to the people, Come, see a man who hath told me all that ever I did; is not this the Christ?
Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any one hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
And the Spirit and the bride say, Come; and let him that heareth say, Come. And let him, that thirsteth, Come. And let him, that desireth it, take the water of life freely.
Upon which He said, A certain man made a great supper and invited many; and sent his servant at supper-time to say to them that were invited, Come, for all things are now ready.
And Jesus resuming his discourse spake unto them again in parables, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king, who made a wedding-feast for his son; and sent his servants to call those that were invited to the wedding: and they would not come.read more.
Then he sent other servants, saying, Tell them that are invited, I have prepared my dinner, my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready; come to the wedding. But they slighted him, and went away, one to his field and another to his merchandize: and others seized his servants, and shamefully abused them, and slew them. And when the king heard of it, he was highly provoked, and sent his troops, and destroyed those murderers, and burnt their city. Then saith he to his servants, The feast is ready, but they that were invited were not worthy of it: go therefore into the public streets, and as many as ye meet with invite to the wedding. And those servants went out into the high-ways, and brought in all they met with, both bad and good: and the wedding was filled with guests. But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man that had not put on a wedding-garment, and saith to him, Friend, how camest thou in here without a wedding-garment? and he was struck speechless. Then said the king to his attendants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him up, and throw him out into the darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of the teeth: for there are many called, but few approved.
Let us rejoice and exult and give glory to Him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And it was given to her, that she should be arrayed in fine linen clean and bright: for the fine linen is the righteousness of the saints. And he said unto me, Write, Happy they who are invited to the marriage-supper of the Lamb. And he said unto me, These are the true words of God.
