And there was a poor man named Lazarus, who was laid at his gate full of sores, and desiring to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man's table: and the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass that the poor man died, and was carried by angels to Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried.

For the Macedonians and Achaians have been pleased to make a contribution for the poor saints at Jerusalem.

And the heart and soul of the multitude that believed was one: no one called any of his possessions his own property, but they had all things common. Only desiring that we would remember the poor: which I also was forward to do.

to be rich in good works, to be ready to distribute, willing to communicate;

And may He, who supplieth seed to the sower, and giveth bread for food, furnish and multiply your sowing, and increase the fruits of your bounty:) being in every thing enriched to all liberality, which produceth through us thanksgiving to God.

because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. For when the sun is risen with it's sultry heat, it drieth up the grass, and the flower of, it falleth, and the beauty of it's appearance is lost: so shall the rich man fade away in his projects.

Charge them, that are rich in this world, not to be high-minded nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who richly affords us all things for enjoyment: charge them to do good,

And seek ye not what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; neither be ye in careful suspense: for all these things the nations of the world seek after; but your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.

but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Sell what ye have, and give alms: provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a never-failing treasure in the heavens, where no thief approacheth nor moth corrupteth: for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

to be rich in good works, to be ready to distribute, willing to communicate; treasuring up to themselves a good foundation for the future, that they may obtain eternal life.

And in the evening, there came a rich man of Arimathea, whose name was Joseph, who also himself was a disciple of Jesus, and went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate ordered the body to be delivered to him; and Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,read more.
and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had had cut out in the rock; and when he had rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, he went away:

And the evening being now come, (because it was the preparation, or the day before the sabbath,) Joseph of Arimathea, an honorable counsellor, who also was expecting the kingdom of God, came and went in boldly to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. But Pilate wondered that He was dead already, and therefore calling for the centurion he asked him if He had been dead any time:read more.
and when he heard it from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph. And he bought fine linen, and took Him down, and wrapped Him in the linen, and laid Him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock; and rolled a stone to the door of the sepulchre.

and he took it down and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre hewn in stone, where no one had ever yet been laid. Now that day was the preparation, and the sabbath was coming on:

And after these things Joseph of Arimathea (who was a disciple of Jesus, but a concealed one for fear of the Jews) petitioned Pilate, that he might take away the body of Jesus; and Pilate gave him leave: he came therefore and took away the body of Jesus. And there came also Nicodemus (who at first came to Jesus by night) and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes about an hundred pound weight. So they took the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen cloths, with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury.read more.
Now there was a garden in the place where He was crucified; and in the garden a new sepulchre, in which none had ever yet been laid. There therefore they laid Jesus, because of the Jews preparation-day; for the sepulchre was near.
