So here is the comparison: As through one man sin came into the world, and death as the consequence of sin, and death spread to all men; because all men sinned.
But which of you by worrying can add a single minute to his life?
although you do not have the slightest knowledge of tomorrow. What is the nature of your life? It is really nothing but a mist which appears for a little while and then disappears.

But Jesus had spoken about his death. However, they supposed that He was referring to falling into a natural sleep.
And He went into the house and said to them, "Why do you continue all this confusion and crying? The little girl is not dead but is sleeping."
For David, after having served God's purpose in his own generation, fell asleep and was laid among his forefathers, and so he did experience decay,
After that, at one time He was seen by more than five hundred brothers, most of whom are still living, though some of them have fallen asleep.
For on the Lord's own authority we say that those of us who may be left behind and are still living when the Lord comes back, will have no advantage at all over those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself, at the summons sounded by the archangel's call and by God's trumpet, will come down from heaven, and first of all the dead in union with Christ will rise, then those of us who are still living will be caught up along with them on clouds in the air to meet the Lord, and so we shall be with the Lord forever.
Let me tell you a secret. We shall not all fall asleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the sound of the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised with bodies not subject to decay, and we shall be changed.
For the wages paid by sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life through union with Christ Jesus our Lord.
Jesus answered him, "Yes, I am. But I tell you, you will all soon see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of the Almighty, and coming on the clouds of the sky."

and said to them, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up into heaven? This very Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven will come back in just the way you have seen Him go up into heaven."
so Christ was offered once for all to take away the sins of many, but again He will appear, without having anything to do with sin, to save those who are eagerly waiting for Him to bring them final salvation.
But about that day or hour not a single one knows -- not even the angels in heaven or the Son; not a single one but the Father alone.

For the Son of Man is going to come in His Father's splendor, with His angels, and then He will pay back to everyone in accordance with what he has done.
"When the Son of Man comes in His splendor, and all the angels with Him, He will take His seat on His splendid throne, and all the nations will be gathered before him, and He will separate them from one another, just as a shepherd separates his sheep from his goats,
And if I go and make it ready for you, I will come back and take you to be face to face with me, so that you may always be right where I am.
So you must stop forming any premature judgments, but wait until the Lord shall come again, for He will bring to light the secrets hidden in the dark and will make known the motives of men's hearts, and the proper praise will be awarded each of us.

Dearly beloved, we are now God's children, but what we are going to be has not been unveiled. We know that if it is unveiled, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is.
And now, dear children, I repeat, you must continue to live in union with Him, so that if He is unveiled, we may have unshaken confidence and not shrink away from Him in shame when He comes.
So you must keep alert, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming -- in the evening or at midnight or at daybreak or early in the morning --
So now repent and turn to Him, to have your sins wiped out, that times of revival may come from the presence of the Lord, and He may send back Jesus, the Christ who long ago was appointed for you.
Before God who preserves the life of all His creatures and before Christ Jesus who in testifying before Pontius Pilate made His good profession, I solemnly charge you to keep His command stainless and irreproachable until the appearance of our Lord Jesus Christ,
If all these things are to be dissolved in this way, what men you ought to be! What holy and pious lives you ought to lead,
Stop being surprised at this, for the time is coming when all that are in the graves will listen to His voice, and those who have done good will come out for a resurrection to life, but those who have done evil for a resurrection to condemnation.
and I have the same hope in God that they cherish for themselves, that there is to be a resurrection of the upright and the wicked.
For it is my Father's will that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and that I shall raise him to life on the last day."
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life myself. Whoever continues to believe in me will live right on even though he dies,
because I know that He who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will raise me too in fellowship with you.

and those who have done good will come out for a resurrection to life, but those who have done evil for a resurrection to condemnation.
Then these will go away to everlasting punishment, but the upright to everlasting life."
It is just like this with the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in decay, it is raised without decay; it is sown in humiliation, it is raised in splendor; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in strength; it is sown a physical body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a physical body, there is a spiritual body too.
But this I tell you, brothers: Our physical bodies cannot take part in the kingdom of God; what is decaying will never take part in what is immortal. Let me tell you a secret. We shall not all fall asleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the sound of the last trumpet. For this decaying part of us must put on the body that can never decay, and this part once capable of dying must put on the body that can never die.
Indeed, just as men must die but once and after that be judged,
Then I saw a great white throne and Him who was seated on it, from whose presence earth and sky fled away, no more to be found. I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened; it was the book of life, And the dead were judged by what was written in the books in accordance with what they had done.
For the Father passes sentence on no one, but He has committed all judgment to the Son,
He also ordered us to proclaim to the people and solemnly to testify that this is the One whom God has appointed to be the Judge of the living and the dead.
since He has set a day on which He will justly judge the world through a man whom He has appointed. He has made this credible to all by raising Him from the dead."
yea, the ever-living One. I once was dead, but now I live forever and ever. I carry the keys of death and the underworld.
Whoever persistently rejects me and refuses to accept my teachings has something to judge him -- the very message I have spoken will judge him on the last day.
and to give rest to you who are being crushed with sorrows, along with us, at the unveiling of our Lord Jesus Christ from heaven, with His mighty angels in a flame of fire, who will take vengeance on those who do not know God, that is, those who will not listen to the good news of our Lord Jesus.
But by the same command the present heavens and earth are stored up for fire and are kept for the day when godless men are to be doomed and destroyed.
If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was hurled into the fiery lake.
"I most solemnly say to you, whoever listens to me and believes Him who has sent me possesses eternal life, and will never come under condemnation, but has already passed out of death into life.
Whoever trusts in Him is never to come up for judgment, but whoever does not trust in Him has already received his sentence, because he has not trusted in the name of God's only Son.
So then there is no condemnation at all for those who are in union with Christ Jesus. For the life-giving power of the Spirit through union with Christ Jesus has set us free from the power of sin and death.
For we must all appear before the judgment-bar of Christ, that each may get his pay for what he has done, whether it be good or bad.
