And we are suffering it justly, for we are getting our deserts for what we have done, but this man has done nothing wrong." Then he went on to say, "Jesus, remember me when you come in your kingdom!" So He said to him, "I solemnly say to you, this very day you will be in paradise with me." It was already about noon, and darkness covered the whole country, and lasted until three o'clock, for the sun had failed to shine. And the curtain before the sanctuary was torn in two. Then Jesus uttered a loud cry, and said, "Father, I now commit my spirit to your care." As He said this He breathed His last. When the captain saw what had taken place, he praised God and said, "He certainly was an innocent man!" But all His acquaintances, and the women who used to follow Him from Galilee in a group, were standing at a distance looking on.

So Pilate then turned Him over to them to be crucified. Then they took Jesus, and He went out carrying the cross by Himself to a spot called The Place of the Skull, or in Hebrew, Golgotha. There they crucified Him, with two others, one on each side, and Jesus in the middle. read more.
Pilate had a placard written and had it put over the cross: "JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS." Many of the Jews read this placard, because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and it was written in Hebrew, Latin, and Greek. So Jesus, on seeing His mother and the disciple whom He loved standing near, said to His mother, "There is your son." Then He said to His disciple, "There is your mother." And from that very hour His disciple took her to his own home. After this, as Jesus knew that everything was now finished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, He said, "I am thirsty." A bowl full of sour wine was sitting there. So they put a sponge soaked in sour wine on a stick and put it to His lips. As soon as Jesus took the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" Then He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.

And I, yes I, tell you, your name from now on is to be Peter, Rock, and on a massive rock like this I will build my church, and the powers of the underworld shall never overthrow it.

For none of us can live alone by himself, and none of us can die alone by himself; indeed, if we live, we always live in relation to the Lord, and if we die, we always die in relation to the Lord. So whether we live or die we belong to the Lord.

But in reality Christ has been raised from the dead, the first to be raised of those who have fallen asleep. For since it was through a man that death resulted, it was also through a man that the resurrection of the dead resulted. So, as through one offense there resulted condemnation for all men, just so through one act of uprightness there resulted right standing involving life for all men. For just as by that man's disobedience the whole race of men were constituted sinners, so by this One's obedience the whole race of men may be brought into right standing with God. Then law crept in to multiply the offense. Though sin has multiplied, yet God's favor has surpassed it and overflowed, so that just as sin had reigned by death, so His favor too might reign in right standing with God which issues in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

But if Christ lives in you, although your bodies must die because of sin, your spirits are now enjoying life because of right standing with God. If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead has His home within you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give your mortal bodies life through His Spirit that has His home within you.

But someone will ask, "How can the dead rise? With what kind of body do they come back?" You foolish man! the seed that you sow never comes to life unless it dies first; and what you sow does not have the body that it is going to have, but is a naked grain, of wheat (it may be) or something else; read more.
but God gives it just the body He sees fit, even each kind of seed its own body.

If once through fellowship with Christ you died and were separated from the world's crude notions, why do you live as though you belonged to the world? Why submit to rules such as,

in accordance with my eager expectation and hope that I shall never disgrace myself, but that now as always hitherto, by my all-conquering courage, whether by living or dying, Christ will be honored in me. For to me living means Christ and dying brings gain.

For all the time I continue to live I am being given up to death for Jesus' sake, so that in my mortal lower nature the life of Jesus may be clearly shown.

So I most happily boast about my weaknesses, so that the strength of Christ may overshadow me. That is why I take such pleasure in weaknesses, insults, distresses, persecution, and difficulties, which I endure for Christ's sake, for it is when I am consciously weak that I am really strong.
