So then whenever we have an opportunity, let us practice doing good to everybody, but especially to the members of the family of faith.

If some brother or sister is thinly clad and has no food for the day, and one of you says to him, "Blessings on you, keep warm, eat until you have aplenty," without giving him the things that are needed for the body, what good does it do?

After several years' absence I came to bring contributions of charity for my nation, and to offer sacrifices.

But just now I am on my way to Jerusalem to help God's people. For Macedonia and Greece were delighted to make a contribution to the poor among God's people in Jerusalem. They certainly were delighted to do it, and they really are under obligation to them, for if the heathen peoples have shared in their spiritual blessings, they ought to serve them in material blessings.

For I do not want it to be a relief for others and a burden on you, but through an equalizing of matters in the present crisis I do want your abundance to relieve their need, that some day their abundance may relieve your need, so that equality may exist -- just as the Scripture says, "The man who gathered much did not have too much, and the man who gathered little did not have too little."

Only they wanted us to remember the poor; the very thing that I was eager to do.

And stop neglecting to do good and to be generous, for God is highly pleased with just such sacrifices as these.

In those days, as the number of the disciples was increasing, complaint was made by the Greek-speaking Jews against the native Jews that their widows were being neglected in the daily distribution of food.

Always care for widows who are really dependent.

A religious worship that is pure and stainless in the sight of God the Father is this: To look after orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep one's own self unstained by the world.
