And upon this occasion Jesus opened his mouth and said, "I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and knowing, and hast revealed them to babes: even so, Father, for it was thy good pleasure that so it should be."

Is thine eye evil because I am good? Thus the last shall be first, and the first last; for there are many called, but few chosen.

and this gospel of the kingdom of heaven shall be preached in all the world, for a testimony to all the nations; and then shall the end come.

for there shall rise up false Christs, and false prophets, who shall shew great signs and prodigies, so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

And when they had thus abused Him, they took off the purple from Him, and put his own clothes on Him, and brought Him out to crucify Him.

And He said, To you it is granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but I speak to others in parables, that in seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.

All that the Father giveth me, will come unto me; and him that cometh to me I will not cast out.

as Thou hast given Him power over all flesh, that as to all which Thou hast given Him, He might give them eternal life;

in hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before all ages;

And He said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or seasons, which the Father hath reserved in his own power.

For ye see by your calling, brethren, that not many wise men according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are called: but God hath chosen things that are foolish in the eye of the world to put it's wise men to confusion; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the mighty; and things in the opinion of the world ignoble, and despicable, and accounted as nothing, hath God chosen, to abolish things that are in esteem among men;read more.
that no flesh may glory in his presence.

But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, that hidden wisdom which God ordained before the worlds for our glory: which none of the rulers of this age knew; for if they had known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

according as he hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and unblameable before Him in love: having before appointed us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ unto Himself, according to the good pleasure of his will;

having made known to us the secret of his will, according to his good pleasure, which He had before purposed in Himself: that in the dispensation of the fulness of times, He might reduce all things, both in heaven and on earth, under one head in Christ: even in Him, in whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated to it according to the purpose of Him who effecteth all things after the counsel of His own will:

created in Christ Jesus unto good works, for which God before prepared us, that we might walk in them.

that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly regions; according to the ancient purpose, which He executed in Christ Jesus our Lord:

and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge, after the image of Him that created him.

knowing, beloved brethren, your election by God. For our gospel came not to you in word only, but also in power, and in the holy Ghost, and in much certainty; as ye know what sort of persons we were among you for your sakes.

But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord; because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation, through sanctification of the Spirit, and belief of the truth: to which He hath called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose, and grace bestowed upon us through Christ Jesus, before the world was,

who hath of his own will begotten us by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first-fruits of his creatures.
