And He said unto them, O people void of understanding and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken. Was not the Messiah to suffer these things, and so to enter into his glory? And beginning from Moses, and all the prophets, He explained to them in all the scriptures the things that were spoken concerning Himself.

And from that time began Jesus to acquaint his disciples, that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders, and chief priests, and scribes; and be put to death, and be raised again on the third day.

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up: that whosoever believeth on Him may not perish, but have eternal life.

But this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor doth what is corruptible inherit incorruption. Behold, I tell you a mystery: we shall not all sleep; but we shall all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the sound of the last trumpet (for the trumpet shall sound) and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed:read more.

O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

For we must all appear before the tribunal of Christ, that every one may receive for the things done in the body, according to what he hath done, whether it were good or bad.

After these things I saw, and behold, a door opened in heaven; and the first voice which I heard was as of a trumpet speaking to me; and it said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must come to pass hereafter.

And I saw an angel come down from heaven, who had the key of the bottomless pit, and a great chain in his hand. And he seized the dragon, that old serpent, who is the devil and satan, and bound him a thousand years, and cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he might deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years be finished: and then he must be loosed for a little time.

And he said unto me, These words are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets hath sent his angel to shew unto his servants what must soon be.

And I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to the whole law.

The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law He ought to die, because He made himself the Son of God.

and for this reason he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer sacrifice for sins.

For where a testament is, there is a necessity of proving the death of the testator.

Jesus answered, I tell thee of a truth, Unless a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That, which is born of the flesh, is flesh; and that, which is born of the Spirit, is spirit. Do not wonder that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

And Jesus calling to Him a little child, set it in the midst of them, and said, Verily I declare unto you, unless ye be converted, and become like little children, ye shall never enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily verily I tell thee, Unless a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

And there is salvation in no other; for there is no other name under heaven given among men, by which we can be saved.

Wherefore though God overlooked the times of this ignorance, He now requireth all men every where to repent.

He that saith, he abideth in Him, ought himself also so to walk even as He walked.

Now we that are strong, ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves: but let every one of us please our neighbor for his good, to his edification.

These things I write unto thee, hoping to come to thee shortly. But if I should be retarded, that thou mayst know how thou oughtest to behave in the house of God, the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth.

But profane and groundless fables reject, and exercise thyself unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth little, but piety is profitable unto all things, having the promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come:

Flee youthful passions: and follow righteousness, fidelity, love, and peace, with all those that call upon the Lord out of a pure heart: but foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they produce quarrels; for the servant of the Lord ought not to wrangle, but to be gentle towards all men, ready to teach, patient under injuries,

For the grace of God, that bringeth salvation, hath appeared to all men; teaching us that denying ungodliness, and worldly desires, we should live soberly, and righteously, and piously in this present world; looking for the blessed hope, and glorious appearance of the great God, and our Saviour, Jesus Christ:read more.
who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify to Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way, for he is the instrument I have chosen, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: for I will shew him how great sufferings he must endure for my name.

But after long abstinence from food, Paul stood up in the midst of them and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not loosed from Crete, and so have saved this damage and loss. However, I now exhort you to be of good courage: for there shall be no loss of any life among you, but only of the ship: for there stood by me this night an angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve, saying,read more.

but the Jews opposing it, I was obliged to appeal to Cesar; though not as having any thing to accuse my nation of.

For if I preach the gospel, yet I have no ground for boasting; because I am under necessity to do it: and wo is me if I do not preach the Gospel. Now if I do this willingly, I have a reward; and if unwillingly, yet I am intrusted with the commission, and I must execute it. What is my reward then but this? that when I preach I may make the gospel of Christ not expensive, that so I may not abuse my power in the gospel.

and being set free from sin, ye are become the servants of righteousness.

For though I am free from all, yet I have made myself a servant to all, that I might gain the more. And to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; that is, to those, who are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain those who are under the law: and to those without the law as without the law, (not being without law to God, but under the law to Christ) that I might gain those who are without the law.read more.

Let every one give as he chuses in his own heart; not with reluctance, or constraint: for God loveth a chearful giver.

Wo will be to the world from such offenses; for it is of necessity that offenses come: but wo to that man by whom the offense cometh.
