And He, answering, said to them, "An evil and adulterous generation is seeking after a sign; and no sign shall be given to it, except the sign of Jonah the prophet. For, as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so shall the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Another parable He set before them, saying, "The Kingdom of Heaven was likened to a man who sowed good seed in his field; and, while men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed tares in the midst of the wheat, and went away. And, when the blade sprang up, and produced fruit, then appeared the tares also.read more.
And the servants of the house-holder, corning near, said to him, 'Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? Whence, then, has it tares?' And he said to them, 'An enemy did this.' The servants say to him, 'Do you wish, then, that we, going, should gather them up?' He says, 'No; lest, while ye gather up the tares, ye root up the wheat with them. Suffer both to grow together until the harvest. And, in the season of harvest, I will say to the reapers, Gather up first the tares, and bind them into bundles, with the view of burning them; but gather the wheat into my barn.'" Another parable He set before them, saying, "The Kingdom of Heaven is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man, having taken, sowed in his field: which, indeed, is less than all the seeds; but, when it is grown, it is greater than the herbs, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the heaven come and roost in its branches." Another parable He spake to them: "The Kingdom of Heaven is like leaven, which a woman, taking, hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened." All these things Jesus spake to the multitudes in parables; and, without a parable, He was wont to speak nothing to them; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying, "I will open My mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden from the foundation of the world." Then, leaving the multitudes, He went into the house; and His disciples came to Him, saying, "Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field." And, answering, He said, "He that sows the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world: and the good seed, these are the sons of the Kingdom; but the tares are the sons of the evil one; and the enemy that sowed them is the Devil; and the harvest is the end of the age; and the reapers are angels. As, therefore, the tares are gathered up, and are burned with fire, so shall it be in the end of the age. The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of the Kingdom all the stumbling-blocks, and those who do iniquity; and they will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be the weeping, and the gnashing of teeth! Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the Kingdom of their Father. He that has ears let him hear. "Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid; and in his joy he goes and sells all that he has, and buys that field. "Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls; and, having found one pearl of great price, departing, he has sold all that he had, and bought it. "Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a net, cast into the sea, and gathering of every kind; which, when it was filled having drawn it up again upon the beach, and sitting down, they gathered the good into vessels, but cast away the bad. So will it be at the end of the age. The angels will go forth, and will separate the wicked from the midst of the righteous, and will cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be the weeping, and the gnashing of teeth.

And I also say to you, that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My assembly, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

From that time began Jesus to show to His disciples, that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and high-priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised up.

Verily I say to you, there are some of those standing here, who will not taste of death, till they see the Son of Man coming in His Kingdom."

And, while they were assembled together in Galilee, Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men; and they will kill Him, and on the third day He will be raised up." And they were grieved exceedingly.

"Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered to the high-priests and scribes; and they will condemn Him to death; and will deliver Him up to the gentiles, to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify; and, on the third day, He will be raised up "

"Hear another parable. There was a man?? householder??ho planted a vineyard, and placed a fence around it, and dug a wine-press, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went abroad. And, when the season of the fruits drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen to receive his fruits. And the husbandmen, taking his servants, one, indeed, they beat; and one they killed; and one they stoned.read more.
Again he sent other servants more than the first; and they treated them likewise. But afterward he sent to them his son, saying, 'They will reverence my son.' But the husbandmen, seeing the son, said among themselves, 'This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and have his inheritance!' And, taking him, they cast him forth out of the vineyard, and killed him. When, therefore, the lord of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those husband-men?" They say to Him, "He will miserably destroy those miserable men, and will let out the vineyard to other husbandmen, who will render to him the fruits in their seasons." Jesus saith to them, "Did ye never read in the Scriptures, 'The stone which the builders rejected, the same was made head of a corner; this was from the Lord, and it is marvellous in our eyes?' "Therefore, I say to you, the Kingdom of God shall be taken away from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruit thereof. And he who falls on this stone shall be broken in pieces; but on whomsoever it falls, it will scatter him as dust."

Therefore, behold, I send to you prophets and wise men and scribes; some of them ye will kill and crucify, and some ye will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city; that upon you may come all the righteous blood poured out upon the earth, from the blood of Abel, the righteous, unto the blood of Zachariah, son of Barachiah, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar. Verily I say to you, all these things shall come upon this generation.read more.
Jerusalem! Jerusalem! that kills the prophets, and stones those sent to her! how often did I wish to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left to you desolate! For I say to you, ye shall in no wise see Me henceforth, till ye shall say, 'Blessed is He That cometh in the name of the Lord!'"

And Jesus, going out, was departing from the temple; and His disciples came near to show Him the buildings of the temple.

And Jesus, answering, said to them, "Take heed that no one lead you astray; for many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will lead many astray.

And this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the inhabited earth for a testimony to all the nations, and then shall the end come.

Then, if any one shall say to you, 'Behold, here is the Christ!' or 'Here,' believe it not; for there will arise false Christs and false prophets; and they will give great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. Behold, I have foretold you.read more.
If, therefore, they say to you, 'Behold, He is in the wilderness;' go not forth; 'Behold, He is in the secret chambers,' believe it not,

"Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be likened to ten virgins, who, taking their lamps, went forth to meet the bridegroom.

"Ye know that, after two days, the passover takes place, and the Son of Man is delivered up to be crucified."

and, as they were eating, He said, "Verily I say to you, one of you will betray Me."

And He, answering, said, "He who dipped with Me his hand in the dish, the same will betray Me. The Son of Man, indeed, goeth, as it has been written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It were good for him, if that man had never been born!" And Judas, who betrayed Him, answering, said, "Is it I, Rabbi?" He says to him, "You said it."

Then He cometh to the disciples, and saith to them, "Sleep on the remaining time, and take your rest. Behold the hour has drawn near, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. Arise, let us be going. Behold, he who is betraying Me is at hand."

And He began to teach them, that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, and the high priests, and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

And He said to them, "Verily I say to you, there are some of those standing here, who shall not taste of death, till they see the Kingdom of God come with power."

For He was teaching His disciples, and said to them, "The Son of Man is delivered up into the hands of men, and they will kill Him; and, having been killed, after three days He will rise again."

And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus was going before them. And they were being amazed: and those following Him were being terrified. And, again taking with Him the twelve, He began to tell them the things about to happen to Him: "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of Man will be delivered up to the high priests, and to the scribes, and they will condemn Him to death, and will deliver Him up to the gentiles; and they will mock Him and will spit upon Him, and will scourge Him, and will kill Him; and after three days He will rise again."

And on the morrow, when they had come out from Bethany, He was hungry. And, seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, He came, if perhaps He might find something thereon. And, having come to it, He found nothing but leaves; for it was not the season of figs. And, answering, He said to it, "May no one eat fruit from you any more forever!" And His disciples heard it.

And, as He was going out of the temple, one of His disciples says to Him, "Teacher, behold, what manner of stones and what manner of buildings!"

And Jesus began to say to them, "Take heed, lest some one lead you astray. Many will come in My name, saying, 'I am He', and will lead many astray.

And then, if any one shall say to you, 'Lo, here is the Christ!' or, 'Lo, there!' believe him not; for there will arise false Christs and false prophets, and will show signs and wonders, in order to lead astray, if possible, the elect. But take heed; I have foretold you all things.

She did what she could: she anointed My body beforehand for the burial. And verily I say to you, wheresoever the Gospel shall be preached in the whole world, that also which this woman did shall be spoken of for a memorial of her."

And these signs shall accompany those having believed: in My name will they cast out demons: they will speak with tongues; they will take up serpents; and, if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."

saying, "The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, and high priests, and scribes; and be killed, and on the third day be raised up." And He said to all, "If any one wishes to come after Me, let him disown himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whosoever wishes to save his soul shall lose it; but whosoever will lose his soul for My sake, the same shall save it.

And I tell you truly, there are some of those standing here who will in no wise taste of death, till they see the Kingdom of God."

And you, Capernaum, shall you be exalted to Heaven? You shall be thrust down to Hades!

And that servant who knew his lord's will, and made not ready, nor did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes; but he who knew not, and did things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few. And to whomsoever much is given, of him will much be required; and to whomsoever they committed much, of him they will ask the more. "I came to cast fire on the earth; and what wish I, if it were already kindled? But I have an immersion to be immersed with; and how am I constrained until it be accomplished! Think ye that I came to give peace in the earth? I tell you, nay, but rather division. For from this time forth five in one house will be divided, three against two, and two against three; they will be divided, father against son, and son against father; mother against daughter, and daughter against the mother; mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and daughter-in-law against the mother-in-law."

And He said to them, "Strive to enter in through the narrow door; because many, I say to you, will seek to enter in, and will not be able. When the Householder rises and shuts the door, and ye begin to stand without and to knock at the door, saying, 'Lord, open to us!' and He, answering, shall say to you, 'I know you not, whence ye are;' then ye will begin to say, 'We ate and drank in Thy presence, and Thou didst teach in our streets.'read more.
And He will say, 'I tell you, I know not whence ye are; depart from Me, all ye workers of unrighteousness.' There will be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the Kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust forth without. And they will come from the east and west, and from the north and south, and shall recline at table in the Kingdom of God. And, behold, there are last who will be first, and there are first who will be last." In that very hour, there came certain Pharisees, saying to Him, "Go out, and journey hence; because Herod is wishing to kill Thee." And He said to them, "Going your way, tell this fox, 'Behold, I cast out demons, and perfect cures, to-day and to-morrow; and on the third day I am made perfect. But yet I must go on My way to-day, and to-morrow, and the following day; because it is not possible that a prophet perish outside of Jerusalem!' O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that kills the prophets, and stones those sent to her; how often I wished to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her own brood under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is abandoned to you! But I say to you, ye shall in no wise see Me, until ye shall say, 'Blessed is He Who is coming in the name of the Lord!'"

And being asked by the Pharisees, when the Kingdom of God is coming, He answered them, and said, "The Kingdom of God comes not with observation; nor will they say, 'Lo, here!' or, 'Lo, there!' for, behold, the Kingdom of God is within you." And He said to the disciples, "There will come days, when ye will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and ye will not see it.read more.
And they will say to you, 'Lo, there!' or "Lo, here!' go not away, nor follow after them. For, as the lightning, flashing out of one part under heaven, shines to the other part under heaven; so shall be the Son of Man. But first He must suffer many things, and be rejected by this generation. "And, as it happened in the days of Noah, so will it be also in the days of the Son of Man: they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were given in marriage, until the day on which Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Whosoever shall seek to gain his soul shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose it, will preserve it. I say to you, in that night there will be two men on one bed; the one will be taken, and the other will be left. And, taking the twelve aside, He said to them, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and all the things, written through the prophets respecting the Son of Man, will be accomplished; for He will be delivered up to the gentiles, and will be mocked, and insulted, and spit upon, and they will scourge Him, and kill Him; and, on the third day, He will rise again."

And, when He came near, seeing the city, He wept over it, saying, "If you knew, in this your day??ven you??he things pertaining to peace! but just now were they hid from your eyes! Because the days will come upon you, when your enemies will cast a rampart about you, and compass you round, and hem you in on all sides;read more.
and they will dash you to the ground, and your children within you; and shall not leave in you a stone upon a stone; because you knew not the season of your visitation." And, having entered into the temple, He began to cast out those who sold; saying to them, "It has been written, 'And My house shall be a house of prayer;' but ye made it a den of robbers." And He was teaching daily in the temple; but the high priests and the scribes and the chief men of the people were seeking to destroy Him; and they were not finding anything they could do; for the people were all hanging upon Him, listening.

And He said, "Take heed that ye be not led astray; for many will come in My name, saying, 'I am He,' and, 'The season has drawn near!' Go not after them.

But, turning towards them, Jesus said, "Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for Me; but weep for yourselves, and for your children; for, behold, the days are coming in which they will say, 'Happy the barren, and the wombs which bore not, and breasts that gave not suck.' Then will they begin to say to the mountains, 'Fall on us;' and to the hills, 'Cover us;'read more.
for, if they do these things in the green tree, what shall be done in the dry?"

Jesus answered and said to them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up."

And, as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up;

Jesus saith to her, "Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when ye will, neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father.

But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for, indeed, the Father seeketh such to be His worshipers.

Verily, verily, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those having heard shall live. For, as the Father hath life in Himself, so also He gave to the Son to have life in Himself; and He gave Him authority to execute judgment, because He is the Son of Man.read more.
Marvel not at this; because there is an hour coming, in which all who are in their tombs shall hear His voice, and come forth; those who did good, to the resurrection of life; but those who practiced evil, to the resurrection of judgment.

He said, therefore, again to them, "I go away, and ye will seek Me, and will die in your sins. Whither I go, ye cannot come."

Jesus, therefore, said, "When ye lift up the Son of Man, then will ye know that I am He; and, of Myself, I do nothing, but, as the Father taught Me, I speak these things.

And Jesus, hearing it, said, "This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.

These things He spake; and after this He saith to them, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I am going to awake him out of sleep."

Jesus saith to her, "Your brother shall rise again."

Jesus saith to her, "Did I not say to you that, if you would believe, you should see the glory of God?"

Jesus, therefore, said, "Suffer her to keep it for the day of My burial; for the poor ye always have with you, but Me ye have not always."

And Jesus answereth them, saying, "The hour has come, that the Son of Man should be glorified.

and I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself."

Jesus, therefore, said to them, "Yet a little while is the Light among you. Walk while ye have the Light, lest darkness overtake you; and he that walks in the darkness knows not where he is going.

I speak not concerning all of you: I know whom I chose; but, that the Scripture may be fulfilled, 'He that eats My bread lifted up his heel against Me.' From this time, I tell you before it comes to pass; that, when it comes to pass, ye may believe that I am He. Verily, verily, I say to you, he who receives whomsoever I send receives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me."read more.
Having said these things, Jesus was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, "Verily, verily, I say to you, that one of you will betray Me." The disciples were looking one on another, doubting about whom He was speaking. There was at the table reclining in Jesus' bosom one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved. Simon Peter, therefore, beckons to this one, and says to him, "Tell us who it is about whom He is speaking." He, leaning back as he was on the breast of Jesus, says to Him, "Lord, who is it?" Jesus, therefore, answereth, "He it is for whom I shall dip the morsel, and give it to him." Having, therefore, dipped the morsel, He taketh and giveth it to Judas, son of Simon Iscariot. And after the morsel, then Satan entered into him. Jesus, therefore, saith to him, "What you do, do quickly."

Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye will seek Me; and, as I said to the Jews, 'Whither I go ye cannot come;' so now I say to you.

Simon Peter says to Him, "Lord, where art Thou going?" Jesus answered, "Where I go, you cannot follow Me now; but you will follow Me later." Peter says to Him, "Why can I not follow Thee even now? I will lay down my soul for Thee." Jesus answered, "Will you lay down your soul for Me? Verily, verily, I say to you, a cock shall not crow, till you thrice deny Me."

And now I have told you before it comes to pass; that, when it comes to pass, ye may believe.

But these things I have spoken to you, that, when their hour shall come, ye may remember them, that I told you. And these things I said not to you from the beginning, because I was with you.

respecting righteousness, because I go to the Father, and ye no longer behold Me;

A little while, and ye no longer behold Me; and again a little while, and ye will see Me."

Behold, an hour is coming, and has come, that ye should be scattered, each to his own, and leave Me alone; and I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.

Verily, verily, I say to you, when you were young, you were wont to gird yourself, and to walk wheresoever you wished; but, when you become old, you will stretch forth your hands, and another will gird you, and carry you whither you wish not." Now this He spake, signifying by what manner of death he would glorify God. And, having spoken this, He saith to him, "Follow Me." Peter, turning about, sees the disciple whom Jesus loved following; who also at the Supper leaned back on Jesus' breast, and said, "Lord, who is he that betrays Thee?"read more.
Peter therefore, seeing him, says to Jesus, "Lord, and what will this man do?" Jesus saith to him, "If I wish him to remain till I come, what is it to you? follow Me." This saying, therefore, went forth among the brethren, that that disciple should not die; yet Jesus did not say to him, that he should not die, but, "If I wish him to remain till I come, what is it to you?"
