But we ought to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, beloved by the Lord; because God, from the beginning, chose you to salvation, in sanctification of the Spirit and belief of truth;
This Man, delivered up by the settled counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye, having fastened to the cross, through the hand of lawless ones, did slay:
in order that now might be made known to the principalities and authorities in the heavenly places, through the assembly, the manifold wisdom of God, according to a purpose of the ages which He made in Christ Jesus our Lord,
O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past tracing out,
Who saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose, and grace which was given us in Christ Jesus before eternal ages,
"Then will the King say to those on His right hand, 'Come, ye blessed of My Father! inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the founding of the world:
according as He chose us in Him before the founding of a world, that we should be holy and without blemish before Him in love;
upon hope of eternal life which God, Who cannot lie, promised before eternal times,
foreknown, indeed, from a founding of a world, but manifested in the end of the times for you,

having predestinated us to the adoption of sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He graciously bestowed on us in the Beloved;
but, as it has been written, "Things which eye saw not, and ear heard not, and that entered not into the heart of man??hatsoever things God prepared for those who love Him"; but to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searcheth all things ??ven the deep things of God.
making known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Him,
respecting which ye can, by reading, perceive my understanding in the mystery of Christ, which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it was now revealed to His holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit;
And we know that all things are working together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose;
and he not conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is the good and well-pleasing and perfect will of God.
For, of a truth, there were gathered together in this city, against Thy Holy Child Jesus, Whom Thou didst anoint, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the gentiles and peoples of Israel??28 to do whatsoever Thy hand and Thy counsel predetermined to come to pass.
but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot; foreknown, indeed, from a founding of a world, but manifested in the end of the times for you,
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son, to be a propitiation for our sins.
And He said, "Go away into the city to such a one, and say to him, 'The Teacher saith, My time is at hand; with you I observe the passover together with My disciples.'"
Now My soul has become troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save Me from this hour. But for this cause came I to this hour.
And He cometh the third time, and saith to them, "Sleep on the remaining time, and take your rest. It is enough; the hour came; behold, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
Jesus, therefore, saith to them, "My time is not yet present; but your time is always ready. The world cannot hate you; but Me it hates, because I testify concerning it, that its works are evil. Go ye up to the feast. I am not yet going up to this feast, because My time has not yet been fulfilled."
And Jesus answereth them, saying, "The hour has come, that the Son of Man should be glorified.
Now, before the feast of the passover, Jesus, knowing that His hour came that He should depart out of this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.
Jesus spake these things; and, lifting up His eyes to Heaven, said, "Father, the hour has come; glorify Thy Son, that the Son may glorify Thee;
making known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Him, for a dispensation of the fulness of the seasons, to sum up all things in Christ, the things in the heavens and the things on the earth; in Him,
"Therefore, let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God made Him both Lord and Christ??his Jesus Whom ye crucified."
and, being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, becoming obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed upon Him the name which is above every name; that, in the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, of beings in Heaven, and on earth, and under the earth,read more.
and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.
And He is the Head of the body, the assembly; Who is the Beginning, the First-born from the dead, that in all things He may be preeminent;
at the end of these days spake to us in His Son, Whom He appointed Heir of all things, through Whom also He constituted the ages; Who, being an effulgence of His glory and an exact expression of His substance, and upholding all things by the word of His power, having made a purification of sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; having become by so much superior to the angels, as He hath inherited a more excellent name than they.
because I have come down from Heaven, not to do My Own will, but the will of Him Who sent Me.
And, going forward a little, He fell on His face, praying, and saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from Me: nevertheless not as I will, but as Thou wilt." And He cometh to the disciples, and findeth them sleeping, and saith to Peter, "Were ye thus unable to watch with Me one hour? Watch, and pray, that ye enter not into temptation. The spirit, indeed, is willing, but the flesh is weak."read more.
Again, a second time, going away, He prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is not possible that this cup should pass away except I drink it, Thy will be done,"
And going forward a little, He fell on the ground, and was praying, that, if it were possible, the hour might pass away from Him. And He said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible to Thee; take away this cup from Me; yet not what I will, but what Thou wilt."
saying, "Father, if Thou art willing, remove this cup from Me; nevertheless, not My will, but Thine, be done."
Jesus saith to them, "My food is to do the will of Him Who sent Me, and to finish His work.
I can of Myself do nothing: as I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous; because I seek not My Own will, but the will of Him Who sent Me.
Who, in the days of His flesh, having offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears to Him Who was able to save Him from death, and having been heard by reason of His godly fear, though He was a Son, learned obedience from the things which He suffered;
Then said I, 'Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it has been written concerning Me), to do Thy will, O God.'"
For this is the will of My Father, that every one who beholds the Son, and believes on Him, should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day."
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that every one who believes on Him should not perish, but have eternal life; for God sent not His Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world may be saved through Him.
