Adulteresses, know you not that the friendship of the world is enmity against God? Whoever therefore wishes to be a friend of the world, is made an enemy of God.
and be not conformed to this life, but be transformed by the renewing of the mind, that you may prove what is the will of God which is good and well-pleasing and perfect.
Love not the world, nor the things in the world. If any one loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him; for all that is in the world, the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passes away, and its desires; but he that does the will of God continues for ever.
for every child that has been born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory which overcomes the world, our faith.
If you were of this world, the world would be a friend to its own; but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. They shall put you out of the synagogues; but the hour is coming when every one that kills you will think he renders God a service.
I have given them thy word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, as I am not of the world.
BELOVED, think not strange of the fiery trial which is to try you, as if some strange thing happened to you, but as you partake of the sufferings of Christ rejoice, that you may also rejoice exulting at the revelation of his glory. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil doer, or as a meddler in other men's affairs; but as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, let him glorify God on this account.

BELOVED, believe not every spirit, but prove the spirits whether they are of God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
And I saw another beast come up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon.
And the beast was taken and with him the false prophet who performed miracles before him, with which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worship his image; and the two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with sulphur.

And the woman was clothed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and the impurities of the fornication of the earth, and on her forehead the names inscribed, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
For the flesh desires against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are opposed one to another, so that you do not what you wish.
BELOVED, I exhort you as strangers and foreigners, abstain from carnal desires, which war against the soul,
For we know that the law is spiritual; but I am carnal, sold under sin. For what I do this I approve not; for I do not what I wish, but what I hate, this I do. But if what I wish not this I do, I consent to the law that it is good;read more.
and now I no longer do it, but the sin that dwells in me. For I know that in me, that is in my flesh, there dwells no good. For to wish is present with me, but to do the good is not; for the good which I wish I do not, but the evil which I wish not this I do. But if what I wish not this I do, I no longer do it, but sin which dwells in me. I find therefore the law, that when I wish to do good evil is present with me; for I consent to the law of God as to my inward man, [my soul], but I see another law in my members warring against the law of my mind, and making me captive to the law of sin which is in my members.
For if you live according to the flesh, you shall die; but if by the spirit you kill the deeds of the body, you shall live.
And the [subjects] of Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its affections and desires.
Put to death, therefore, your members which are on the earth, fornication, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness which is idolatry,
Whence come wars and contentions among you? Come they not thence, from your pleasures that war in your members?
Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil goes about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour;
the enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the consummation of the world; and the reapers are angels.
And these are those where the word is sown by the way; and when they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word which was sown upon them.
those by the way are those who hear, then comes the devil and takes away the word from their hearts, that they may not believe and be saved;
I ask not that thou wouldst take them out of the world, but that thou wouldst keep them from evil.
But the Lord is faithful, who will confirm you, and guard you from evil.
Fear not what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, that you may be tried, and you shall have affliction ten days. Be faithful till death, and I will give you the crown of life.
And the dragon was angry with the woman, and went to make war with the rest of her children who keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus.
For this reason, being no longer able to forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest in some way the tempter should have tempted you, and our labor be in vain.
For because he has himself suffered, having been tried, he is able to help the tried.
For we have not a chief priest who cannot sympathise with our infirmities, but one tried in all respects as we are, without sin.
but I fear lest as the serpent deceived Eve with his craftiness, so also your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity which is in Christ.
And the great dragon, the old serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, and who deceives all the world, was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast [to the earth] with him.
that we may not be circumvented by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his devices.
in whom the god of this life has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the likeness of God, may not shine.
For if he that comes preaches another Jesus whom we did not preach, or you receive another spirit which you did not receive, or another gospel which you did not receive, you might well bear it;
and cast him into the abyss, and shut him up and put a seal over him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years were finished; after that he must be released a short time.
And I heard a loud voice in heaven saying, Now has come the salvation and power and kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ, for the accuser of the brothers, that accused them day and night before God, has been cast [to the earth].
