Pentecost And The Coming Of The Holy Spirit

² And suddenly a sound like a violent rushing wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. ³ And divided tongues like fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. ⁴ And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages as the Spirit gave them [ability] to speak out.

Tongues as of Fire

Matthew 3:11

I baptize you with water for repentance, but the one who comes after me is more powerful than I [am], whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

John 1:32-33

And John testified, saying, "I have seen the Spirit descending like a dove from heaven and remaining upon him.

Isaiah 11:2-3

And the spirit of Yahweh shall rest on him-- a spirit of wisdom and understanding, a spirit of counsel and might, a spirit of knowledge and the fear of Yahweh.
