1 And he will say to me, Son of man, eat what thou shalt find; eat this roll, and go speak to the house of Israel.

1 Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel.

1 Then He said to me, “Son of man, eat what you find; (A)eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.”

1 He said to me: “Son of man, eat what you find here. Eat this scroll,(A) then go and speak to the house of Israel.”

1 Then he told me, "Son of Man, eat! Eat what you see this scroll and then go talk to the house of Israel."

2 And I shall open my mouth, and he will cause me to eat this roll.

2 So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll.

2 So I (B)opened my mouth, and He fed me this scroll.

2 So I opened my mouth, and He fed me the scroll.

2 So I opened my mouth and he fed me the scroll.

3 And he will say to me, Son of man, thou shalt cause thy belly to eat, and thou shalt fill thy bowels with this roll which I give to thee. And eating it, it will be in my mouth as honey for sweetness.

3 And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.

3 He said to me, “Son of man, feed your stomach and (C)fill your (a)body with this scroll which I am giving you.” Then I (D)ate it, and it was sweet as (E)honey in my mouth.

3 “Son of man,” He said to me, “eat(a) and fill your stomach with this scroll I am giving you.” So I ate it,(B) and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth.(C)

3 Then he told me, "Son of Man, fill your stomach and digest this scroll that I'm giving you." So I ate it, and it was like sweet honey in my mouth.

4 And he will say to me, Son of man, go; come to the house of Israel and speak my word to them.

4 And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them.

4 Then He said to me, “Son of man, (b)go to the house of Israel and speak with My words to them.

4 Then He said to me: “Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak My words to them.

4 Then he told me, "Son of Man, go to the house of Israel and tell them what I have to say to them,

5 For not to a people deep of lip and heavy of tongue; thou art sent to the house of Israel;

5 For thou art not sent to a people of a strange speech and of an hard language, but to the house of Israel;

5 For (F)you are not being sent to a people of (c)(G)unintelligible speech or difficult language, but to the house of Israel,

5 For you are not being sent to a people of unintelligible speech or difficult language but to the house of Israel.

5 because you're not going to a people whose speech you cannot understand or whose language is difficult to speak. Instead, you're going to the house of Israel.

6 Not to many peoples deep of lip and heavy of tongue which thou wilt not hear their words If to them I sent thee, they will hear to thee.

6 Not to many people of a strange speech and of an hard language, whose words thou canst not understand. Surely, had I sent thee to them, they would have hearkened unto thee.

6 nor to many peoples of (d)unintelligible speech or difficult language, whose words you cannot understand. (e)But I have sent you to them (f)who should listen to you;

6 You are not being sent to many peoples of unintelligible speech or difficult language, whose words you cannot understand. No doubt, if I sent you to them, they would listen to you.(D)

6 This isn't a large group of people whose speech is unintelligible to you or whose language is difficult for you to comprehend. Frankly, if I had sent you to that kind of people, they would certainly have listened to you!

7 And the house of Israel will not hear to thee; for they are not willing to hear to me: for all the house of Israel are strong of forehead, and they are hard of heart.

7 But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted.

7 yet the house of Israel will not be willing to listen to you, since they are (H)not willing to listen to Me. Surely the whole house of Israel is (g)stubborn and obstinate.

7 But the house of Israel will not want to listen to you because they do not want to listen to Me.(E) For the whole house of Israel is hardheaded and hardhearted.

7 But the house of Israel won't listen to you, since they weren't willing to listen to me. That's because the entire house of Israel is hard-headed and hard-hearted.

8 Behold, I gave thy face strong over against their face, and thy forehead strong over against their forehead.

8 Behold, I have made thy face strong against their faces, and thy forehead strong against their foreheads.

8 Behold, I have made your face as hard as their faces and your forehead as hard as their foreheads.

8 Look, I have made your face as hard as their faces and your forehead as hard as their foreheads.(F)

8 So pay attention! I'm going to make you just as obstinate and unyielding as they are.

9 As the diamond strong above the rock I gave thy forehead: thou shalt not fear them, and thou shalt not be terrified from their face, for they are a house of contradiction.

9 As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.

9 Like (h)emery harder than flint I have made your forehead. Do not be afraid of them or be dismayed before them, though they are a rebellious house.”

9 I have made your forehead like a diamond, harder than flint. Don’t be afraid of them or discouraged by the look on their faces, even though they are a rebellious house.”

9 I'm making you harder than flint like diamond! So you are not to fear them or be intimidated by how they look at you, since they're a rebellious group."

10 And he will say to me, Son of man, all my words which I shall speak to thee take into thy heart, and with thine ears hear thou.

10 Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thine heart, and hear with thine ears.

10 Moreover, He said to me, “Son of man, take into your heart all My (I)words which I will speak to you and listen (i)closely.

10 Next He said to me: “Son of man, listen carefully to all My words that I speak to you and take them to heart.

10 Next, he told me, "Son of Man, take to heart every word that I'm telling you. Listen carefully,

11 And go, come to the captivity, to the sons of my people, and speak to them, and say to them, Thus said the Lord Jehovah; if they will hear, and if they will desist

11 And go, get thee to them of the captivity, unto the children of thy people, and speak unto them, and tell them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear.

11 (j)Go to the exiles, to the sons of your people, and speak to them and tell them, whether they listen or (k)not, ‘Thus says the Lord (l)God.’”

11 Go to your people, the exiles, and speak to them. Tell them, ‘This is what the Lord God says,’ whether they listen or refuse to listen.”(G)

11 then go immediately to the exiles; that is, to your people's descendants, and tell them, "This is what the Lord GOD says"' whether they listen or not."

12 And the spirit will lift me up, and I shall hear behind me a voice of a great shaking: Praised be the glory of Jehovah from his place.

12 Then the spirit took me up, and I heard behind me a voice of a great rushing, saying, Blessed be the glory of the LORD from his place.

12 Then the (J)Spirit lifted me up, and I heard a great (K)rumbling sound behind me, “Blessed be the glory of the Lord (m)in His place.”

12 The Spirit then lifted me up,(H) and I heard a great rumbling sound behind me—praise the glory of the Lord in His place!—

12 Then the Spirit lifted me up and I heard a great earthquake behind me and the glory of the LORD arose from his place,

13 And the voice of the wings of the living creatures, kissing one to the other, and the voice of the wheels over against them, and the voice of a great shaking.

13 I heard also the noise of the wings of the living creatures that touched one another, and the noise of the wheels over against them, and a noise of a great rushing.

13 And I heard the sound of the wings of the living beings touching one another and the sound of the (L)wheels beside them, even a great rumbling sound.

13 with the(b) sound of the living creatures’ wings brushing against each other(I) and the sound of the wheels beside them,(J) a great rumbling sound.

13 accompanied by the sound of the wings of the living creatures gently touching each other and with the sound of the wheels emanating from the front, accompanied by a great earthquake.

14 And the spirit lifted me up, and it will take me and I shall go bitter, in the heat of my spirit; and the hand of Jehovah was strong upon me.

14 So the spirit lifted me up, and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of the LORD was strong upon me.

14 So the Spirit lifted me up and took me away; and I went embittered in the rage of my spirit, and (M)the hand of the Lord was strong on me.

14 So the Spirit lifted me up and took me away. I left in bitterness and in an angry spirit, and the Lord’s hand was on me powerfully.(K)

14 Then the Spirit lifted me up and carried me away. I went bitterly with an angry attitude as the hand of the LORD rested on me.

15 And I shall go to the captivity, the hill of the green ears, those dwelling at the river Chebar, and where they are sitting there, I shall sit there seven days, being astonished in the midst of them.

15 Then I came to them of the captivity at Telabib, that dwelt by the river of Chebar, and I sat where they sat, and remained there astonished among them seven days.

15 Then I came to the exiles who lived beside the river Chebar at Tel-abib, and I sat there (N)seven days where they were living, causing consternation among them.

15 I came to the exiles at Tel-abib, who were living by the Chebar Canal, and I sat there among them stunned for seven days.(L)

15 I came to the exiles at Tel-abib by the Chebar River and sat down among them for seven days, appalled.

Ezekiel As A Watchman

16 And it will be from the end of seven days, and the word of Jehovah will be to me, saying,

16 And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

16 (O)At the end of seven days the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

16 Now at the end of seven days the word of the Lord came to me:(M)

16 At the end of the seven days, this message from the LORD came to me:

17 Son of man, I gave thee a watchman to the house of Israel: and hear thou the word from my mouth, and admonish them from me.

17 Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.

17 “Son of man, I have appointed you a (P)watchman to the house of Israel; whenever you hear a word from My mouth, (Q)warn them from Me.

17 “Son of man, I have made you a watchman over the house of Israel.(N) When you hear a word from My mouth, give them a warning from Me.(O)

17 "Son of Man," he said, "I've appointed you to be a watchman over the house of Israel. Therefore when you hear a message that comes from me, you are to warn them for me.

18 In my saying to the unjust, Dying, thou shalt die; and thou admonished him not, and thou spakest not to admonish the unjust from his way of injustice to preserve him alive; this unjust one shall die in his iniquity, and his blood I will seek from thy hand.

18 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

18 When I say to the wicked, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn him or speak out to warn the wicked from his wicked way that he may live, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his (R)blood I will require at your hand.

18 If I say to the wicked person,(P) ‘You will surely die,’ but you do not warn him—you don’t speak out to warn him about his wicked way in order to save his life—that wicked person will die for his iniquity. Yet I will hold you responsible for his blood.

18 "So when I say to a wicked person, "You're about to die,' if you don't warn or instruct that wicked person that his behavior is wicked so he can live, that wicked person will die in his sin, but I'll hold you responsible for his death.

19 And if thou hast admonished the unjust one, and he turned not back from his evil and from his way of injustice; he shall die in his iniquity and thou deliveredst thy soul.

19 Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

19 Yet if you have (S)warned the wicked and he does not turn from his wickedness or from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have (T)delivered yourself.

19 But if you warn a wicked person and he does not turn from his wickedness or his wicked way, he will die for his iniquity, but you will have saved your life.(Q)

19 If you warn the wicked person, and he doesn't repent of his wickedness or of his wicked behavior, he'll die in his sin, but you will have saved your own life.

20 And in the just turning back from his justice and doing evil, and I gave a stumbling-block before his face, he shall die: for thou didst not admonish him, in his sins he shall die, and his justice shall not be remembered which he did; and his blood will I seek from thy hand.

20 Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

20 Again, (U)when a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I place an (V)obstacle before him, he will die; since you have not warned him, he shall die in his sin, and his righteous deeds which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood I will require at your hand.

20 Now if a righteous person turns from his righteousness and practices iniquity,(R) and I put a stumbling block in front of him, he will die.(S) If you did not warn him, he will die because of his sin and the righteous acts he did will not be remembered. Yet I will hold you responsible for his blood.

20 "When a righteous man abandons his righteousness to practice unrighteousness, I'll set a stumbling block before him. He'll die. If you don't warn him, he'll die in his sin and the righteous deeds that he had practiced won't be remembered, but you'll be held responsible for his death.

21 And if thou admonishedst the just for the just not to sin, and he sin not, living, he shall live, for he was admonished; and thou didst deliver thy soul.

21 Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.

21 However, if you have (W)warned (n)the righteous man that the righteous should not sin and he does not sin, he shall surely live because he took warning; and you have delivered yourself.”

21 But if you warn the righteous person that he should not sin, and he does not sin, he will indeed live because he listened to your warning, and you will have saved your life.”

21 If you warn the righteous person, so that he doesn't commit sin, then he'll live, since he had been warned. And you will have saved your life."

Ezekiel Will Be Unable To Talk

22 And the hand of Jehovah will be there upon me; and he will say to me, Arise, go forth to the valley, and there I will speak with thee

22 And the hand of the LORD was there upon me; and he said unto me, Arise, go forth into the plain, and I will there talk with thee.

22 The hand of the Lord was on me there, and He said to me, “Get up, go out to the plain, and there I will (X)speak to you.”

22 Then the hand of the Lord was on me there, and He said to me, “Get up, go out to the plain,(T) and I will speak with you there.”(U)

22 The hand of the LORD was upon me, and he told me, "Get up! Go to the valley, and I'll speak with you there."

23 And I shall arise and go forth to the valley: and behold there the glory of Jehovah stood as the glory which saw by the river Chebar: and I shall fall upon my face.

23 Then I arose, and went forth into the plain: and, behold, the glory of the LORD stood there, as the glory which I saw by the river of Chebar: and I fell on my face.

23 So I got up and went out to the plain; and behold, the (Y)glory of the Lord was standing there, like the glory which (Z)I saw by the river Chebar, and I fell on my face.

23 So I got up and went out to the plain. The Lord’s glory was present there,(V) like the glory I had seen by the Chebar Canal,(W) and I fell facedown.

23 So I got up, went to the valley, and there was the glory of the LORD, standing there just like I had seen at the Chebar River. So I fell on my face.

24 And the spirit will come into me, and will cause me to stand upon my feet, and will speak with me, and my to me, Come in and be shut up in the midst of thy house.

24 Then the spirit entered into me, and set me upon my feet, and spake with me, and said unto me, Go, shut thyself within thine house.

24 The (AA)Spirit then entered me and made me stand on my feet, and He spoke with me and said to me, “Go, shut yourself up in your house.

24 The Spirit entered me and set me on my feet.(X) He spoke with me and said: “Go, shut yourself inside your house.

24 The Spirit entered me, rested on me, caused me to stand on my feet, and then he spoke to me. This is what he had to say: "Go barricade yourself in your house.

25 And thou, son of man; behold, they gave bands upon thee, and they bound thee with them, and thou shalt not go forth in the midst of them:

25 But thou, O son of man, behold, they shall put bands upon thee, and shall bind thee with them, and thou shalt not go out among them:

25 As for you, son of man, they will (AB)put ropes on you and bind you with them so that you cannot go out among them.

25 And you, son of man, they will put ropes on you(Y) and bind you with them so you cannot go out among them.

25 Now pay attention! They're going to bind you with ropes, tying you up right in their midst, so you won't be able to circulate freely among them.

26 And will cause thy tongue to cleave to thy palate, and thou wert dumb, and thou shalt not be to them for a man reproving: for they are a house of contradiction.

26 And I will make thy tongue cleave to the roof of thy mouth, that thou shalt be dumb, and shalt not be to them a reprover: for they are a rebellious house.

26 Moreover, (AC)I will make your tongue stick to (o)the roof of your mouth so that you will be mute and cannot be a man who rebukes them, for they are a rebellious house.

26 I will make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth,(Z) and you will be mute(AA) and unable to rebuke them, for they are a rebellious house.

26 Meanwhile, I'll make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth so that you'll be mute and unable to reprove them, since they're a rebellious group.

27 And in my speaking with thee I will open thy mouth, and say thou to them, Thus said the Lord Jehovah: He hearing, shall hear; and he desisting, shall desist: for they are a house of contradiction.

27 But when I speak with thee, I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; He that heareth, let him hear; and he that forbeareth, let him forbear: for they are a rebellious house.

27 But (AD)when I speak to you, I will open your mouth and you will say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord (p)God.’ He who hears, let him hear; and he who refuses, let him refuse; (AE)for they are a rebellious house.

27 But when I speak with you, I will open your mouth,(AB) and you will say to them, ‘This is what the Lord God says.’ Let the one who listens, listen, and let the one who refuses, refuse—for they are a rebellious house.

27 But when I speak with you, I'll open your mouth so you can say to them, "This is what the Lord GOD says: "As for those who will listen, "Let them listen,' but as for those who refuse, "Let them refuse,' since they're a rebellious group."'"
