Prophecy Concerning Israel's Shepherds And Sheep

¹ Jehovah continued to speak to me: ² “Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel. Prophesy and say to those shepherds, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “Woe, shepherds of Israel who have been feeding themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flock? ³ You eat the best parts of the sheep, dress in the wool, and butcher the finest sheep. Yet, you do not take care of the sheep.

Jeremiah 23:1

Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of my pasture! Says Jehovah.

Isaiah 40:11

He tends his flock like a shepherd. He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart. He gently leads those that have young.

I will give you shepherds after my own heart. They will be shepherds who feed (shepherd) (lead) (tend) you with knowledge and understanding (learning) (reasoning) (insight).

John 21:15-17

Jeremiah 2:8

The priests did not ask: 'Where is Jehovah? Those who deal with my Law did not know me. The rulers rebelled against me. The prophets prophesied in the name of Baal and followed things that could not help (profit) them.'

The shepherds are foolish. They do not look to Jehovah for help. That is why they will not succeed and all their flocks will be scattered.
