⁶ they took the daughters of them to be their wives, and gave their own daughters to their sons, and served their gods. ⁷ And so the children of Israel did wickedly in the sight of the LORD and forgot the LORD their God and served Baalim and Asheroth. ⁸ Therefore the LORD was angry with Israel and delivered them into the hands of Cushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia. So that the children of Israel served Cushanrishathaim eight years.
