So the sons of Israel arose in the morning and camped against Gibeah.
Then the man arose to go, but his father-in-law urged him so that he spent the night there again.
They passed from there to the hill country of Ephraim and came to the house of Micah.
He said to them, “Thus and so has Micah done to me, and he has hired me and
Now therefore, arise by night, you and the people who are with you, and lie in wait in the field.
Now Gaal the son of Ebed went out and stood in the entrance of the city gate; and Abimelech and the people who were with him arose from the ambush.
They said, “Why, O Lord, God of Israel, has this come about in Israel, so that one tribe should be missing today in Israel?”
So all of Benjamin who fell that day were 25,000 men who draw the sword; all these were valiant warriors.
Benjamin returned at that time, and they gave them the women whom they had kept alive from the women of Jabesh-gilead; yet they
When you enter, you will come to a secure people with a spacious land; for God has given it into your hand,
And the people were sorry for Benjamin because the Lord had made a breach in the tribes of Israel.
But there was a strong tower in the center of the city, and all the men and women with all the leaders of the city fled there and shut themselves in; and they went up on the roof of the tower.
All the people also cut down each one his branch and followed Abimelech, and put them on the inner chamber and set the inner chamber on fire over those inside, so that all the men of the tower of Shechem also died, about a thousand men and women.
The sons of Benjamin gathered from the cities to Gibeah, to go out to battle against the sons of Israel.
