2 And the Pharisees were watching Him to see if He would heal the man on the Sabbath day, so that they could [find a reason to] accuse Him.

2 The people watched Jesus closely to see whether he would heal him on the Sabbath, intending to accuse him of doing something wrong.
4 Then He said to the Pharisees, "Is it permissible by the law of Moses to do something good, or something harmful on the Sabbath day? To save a life or to kill it?" But they did not reply.
4 And He *said to them, “Is it lawful to do good or to do harm on the Sabbath, to save a life or to kill?” But they kept silent.
4 And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace.
4 Then He said to them, “Is it lawful(H) on the Sabbath to do what is good(I) or to do what is evil,(J) to save life(K) or to kill?”(L) But they were silent.(M)
4 Then he asked them, "Is it lawful to do good or to do evil on Sabbath days, to save a life or to destroy it?" But they remained silent.
5 And when He had looked around at them with righteous indignation, being grieved over their stubbornness, He said to the man, "Reach out your hand." And when he reached it out, his hand was restored [to normal use].
5 After (E)looking around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, He *said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored.
5 And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.
5 After looking around at them with anger(N) and sorrow at the hardness(O) of their hearts, He told the man, “Stretch out your hand.” So he stretched it out, and his hand was restored.(P)
5 Jesus looked around at them in anger, deeply hurt because of their hard hearts. Then he told the man, "Hold out your hand." The man held it out, and his hand was restored to health.
6 And the Pharisees immediately went out and conferred with the Herodians against Jesus, plotting how they could kill Him. [Note: These Herodians were members of a political party favoring King Herod]
6 The Pharisees went out and immediately began (b)conspiring with the (F)Herodians against Him, as to how they might destroy Him.
6 And the Pharisees went forth, and straightway took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.

7 [Then] Jesus withdrew [from there] with His disciples and went to the lake [i.e., Lake of Galilee], being followed by a large crowd from Galilee. Also, a large crowd from Judea,

7 So Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the sea. A large crowd from Galilee, Judea,
8 Jerusalem, Idumaea, the east side of the Jordan River, and from around Tyre and Sidon [i.e., cities on the northwest coast of Palestine] came to Him, having heard about the great things [i.e., miracles] He had been performing.
8 and from Jerusalem, and from (I)Idumea, and beyond the Jordan, and the vicinity of (J)Tyre and Sidon, a great number of people heard of all that He was doing and came to Him.
8 And from Jerusalem, and from Idumaea, and from beyond Jordan; and they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they had heard what great things he did, came unto him.
8 Jerusalem,(X) Idumea, beyond the Jordan,(Y) and around Tyre(Z) and Sidon.(AA) The large crowd came to Him because they heard about everything He was doing.
8 Jerusalem, Idumea, from across the Jordan, and from the region around Tyre and Sidon followed him. They came to him because they kept hearing about everything he was doing.
9 He told His disciples to have a small boat waiting for Him [i.e., from which He could address the people. See 4:1], to prevent His being thronged by the large crowd.
9 (K)And He told His disciples that a boat should stand ready for Him because of the crowd, so that they would not crowd Him;
9 And he spake to his disciples, that a small ship should wait on him because of the multitude, lest they should throng him.
9 Then He told His disciples to have a small boat(AB) ready for Him, so the crowd would not crush Him.
9 Jesus told his disciples to have a boat ready for him so that the crowd wouldn't crush him,
10 For He had healed so many people that large numbers of them who were plagued with serious illnesses were crowding around Him in hope of getting to touch Him.
10 for He had (L)healed many, with the result that all those who had (M)afflictions pressed around Him in order to (N)touch Him.
10 For he had healed many; insomuch that they pressed upon him for to touch him, as many as had plagues.
10 because he had healed so many people that everyone who had diseases kept crowding up against him in order to touch him.
11 And whenever they saw Him, [people possessed by] evil spirits fell to the ground in front of Him, shouting, "You are the Son of God."
11 Whenever the unclean spirits saw Him, they would fall down before Him and shout, “You are (O)the Son of God!”
11 And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God.
11 Whenever the unclean(AE) spirits(AF) saw Him, those possessed fell down(AG) before Him and cried out, “You are the Son of God!”(AH)
11 Whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they would fall down in front of him and scream, "You are the Son of God!"
13 He then went up into the mountain and summoned those He wanted to come to Him and they came.

18 And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Canaanite,

20 Soon a crowd assembled again so that they could not even eat a meal [i.e., without people crowding all around them].
20 And He *came (h)(T)home, and the (U)crowd *gathered again, (V)to such an extent that they could not even eat (i)a meal.
20 And the multitude cometh together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread.
20 Then he went home. Such a large crowd gathered again that Jesus and his disciples couldn't even eat.
21 When His relatives [or friends] heard about this [i.e., all that He was doing], they went out to take custody of Him [for safety reasons?], for people were saying, "He has lost his mind."
21 When (W)His own (j)people heard of this, they went out to take custody of Him; for they were saying, “(X)He has lost His senses.”
21 And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself.
21 When His family(BA) heard this, they set out to restrain Him, because they said, “He’s out of His mind.”(BB)
21 When his family heard about it, they went to restrain him, because they kept saying, "He's out of his mind!"
22 And the experts in the law of Moses who had come down from Jerusalem were saying [Note: This followed the incident of Jesus healing a man with an evil spirit. See Matt. 12:22-28], "He has Beelzebub [in him]," and "He is driving out evil spirits by [the power of] the chief of evil spirits."
22 The scribes who came down (Y)from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by (k)(Z)Beelzebul,” and “(AA)He casts out the demons by the ruler of the demons.”
22 And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils.
22 The scribes(BC) who had come down from Jerusalem said, “He has Beelzebul(BD) in Him!” and, “He drives out(BE) demons(BF) by the ruler(BG) of the demons!”(BH)
22 The scribes who had come down from Jerusalem kept repeating, "He has Beelzebul," and, "He drives out demons by the ruler of demons."
23 And He called them to Him and began speaking to them in parables [i.e., brief stories to illustrate His teaching], saying, "How can Satan drive out Satan?
23 (AB)And He called them to Himself and began speaking to them in (AC)parables, “How can (AD)Satan cast out Satan?
23 And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan?
23 So He summoned(BI) them and spoke to them in parables:(BJ) “How can Satan(BK) drive out Satan?(BL)
23 So Jesus called them together and began to speak to them in parables. "How can Satan drive out Satan?
25 And if a household is divided [by strife] within, that household will never last.
25 If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.
25 And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
25 If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
25 And if a household is divided against itself, that household won't stand.
26 And if Satan has risen up against himself, and is divided [i.e., in aim and purpose] he cannot survive, and his end has come.
26 If (AE)Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but (l)he is finished!
26 And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
26 So if Satan rebels against himself and is divided, he cannot stand. Indeed, his end has come.
27 But no one can enter a strong man's house and steal his belongings unless he first ties up the strong man. Only then will he be able to steal from his house.
27 (AF)But no one can enter the strong man’s house and plunder his property unless he first binds the strong man, and then he will plunder his house.
27 No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.
27 “On the other hand, no one can enter a strong man’s house and rob his possessions unless he first ties up(BN) the strong man. Then he will rob his house.
27 No one can go into a strong man's house and carry off his possessions without first tying up the strong man. Then he can ransack his house.
28 Truly I tell you, all of mankind's sins and the abusive language that they use in speaking against God [and men] can be forgiven.
28 “(AG)Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter;
28 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:
28 I assure you: People will be forgiven for all sins(i) and whatever blasphemies(BO) they may blaspheme.
28 I tell all of you with certainty, people will be forgiven their sins and whatever blasphemies they utter.
29 But the person who speaks against the Holy Spirit can never be forgiven, for he is guilty of a never ending sin."
29 but (AH)whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”—
29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:
29 But whoever blasphemes(BP) against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness,(BQ) but is guilty(BR) of an eternal sin”(j)(BS)—
29 But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit can never be forgiven, but is guilty of eternal sin."
31 Then Jesus' mother and [half-] brothers came and stood outside [i.e., of a large house. See Matt. 12:46-13:1]. They sent a message to Him, asking Him to come out to them.
31 (AI)Then His mother and His brothers *arrived, and standing outside they sent word to Him and called Him.
31 There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him.
31 Then(BU) His mother(BV) and His brothers(BW) came, and standing outside, they sent word to Him and called Him.
31 Then his mother and his brothers arrived. Milling around outside, they sent for him, continuously summoning him.
32 Someone in the large crowd that was sitting around Him said to Him, "Look, your mother and your brothers are outside looking for you."
32 A crowd was sitting around Him, and they *said to Him, “Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are outside looking for You.”
32 And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee.
