Taking Up One's Cross To Follow Jesus

³⁴ Then he called the crowd to him with his disciples and said to them, "If anyone wishes to follow me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and so follow me; ³⁵ for whoever wants to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel's will save it. ³⁶ What profit is it for a man to gain the whole world and to forfeit his soul?
