1 In those days, when a large crowd had again gathered and when they had nothing to eat, he called the disciples and said to them,

12 And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.

12 The Pharisees arrived and began arguing with Jesus. They tested him by demanding from him a sign from heaven.
13 Then he left them, embarked again, and went away to the opposite side.

17 And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened?
17 Aware of this, He said to them, “Why are you discussing that you do not have any bread? Don’t you understand or comprehend? Is your heart hardened?(S)

18 You have eyes, do you not see? you have ears, do you not hear?
18 Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

18 Knowing this, Jesus asked them, "Why are you discussing the fact that you don't have any bread? Don't you understand or perceive yet? Are your hearts hardened?
19 Do you not remember how many baskets full of fragments you picked up when I broke the five loaves for the five thousand?" They said, "Twelve."

22 Then they reached Bethsaida. A blind man was brought to him with the request that he would touch him.
22 And they *came to (S)Bethsaida. And they *brought a blind man to Jesus and *implored Him to (T)touch him.
22 And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.

23 So he took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village; then, after spitting on his eyes, he laid his hands on him and asked him, "Do you see anything?"

23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.

23 As they came to Bethsaida, some people brought a blind man to Jesus and begged him to touch him.
24 He began to see and said, "I can make out people, for I see them as large as trees, moving."

24 Jesus took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village. He spit into his eyes, placed his hands on him, and asked him, "Do you see anything?"
25 At this he laid his hands on his eyes once more, and the man stared in front of him; he was quite restored and saw everything distinctly.
25 Then again He laid His hands on his eyes; and he looked intently and was restored, and began to see everything clearly.
25 After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.
25 Again Jesus placed His hands on the man’s eyes, and he saw distinctly. He was cured and could see everything clearly.
25 The man looked up and said, "I see people, but they look like trees walking around."
26 And Jesus sent him home, saying, "Do not go even into the village."

26 Then Jesus placed his hands on the man's eyes again, and he saw clearly. His sight was restored, and he saw everything perfectly, even from a distance.
27 Then Jesus and his disciples set off for the villages of Caesarea Philippi; and on the road he inquired of his disciples, "Who do people say I am?"
27 (Y)Jesus went out, along with His disciples, to the villages of (Z)Caesarea Philippi; and on the way He questioned His disciples, saying to them, “Who do people say that I am?”
27 And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?

28 Then Jesus and his disciples set out for the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way he was asking his disciples, "Who do people say I am?"
29 So he inquired of them, "And who do you say I am?" Peter replied, "You are the Christ."
29 And He continued by questioning them, “But who do you say that I am?” (AB)Peter *answered and *said to Him, “You are (q)the Christ.”
29 And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.

29 They answered him, "Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, and still others one of the prophets."
31 And he proceeded to teach them that the Son of man had to endure great suffering, to be rejected by the elders and the high priests and the scribes, to be killed and after three days to rise again;

32 he spoke of this quite freely. Peter took him and began to reprove him for it,
32 And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.
32 He was openly talking about this. So Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him.
32 Then he began to teach them that the Son of Man would have to suffer a great deal and be rejected by the elders, the high priests, and the scribes. Then he would be killed, but after three days he would rise again.
33 but he turned on him and noticing his disciples reproved Peter, telling him, "Get behind me, you Satan! Your outlook is not God's but man's."
33 But turning around and seeing His disciples, He rebuked Peter and *said, “Get behind Me, (AG)Satan; for you are not setting your mind on (s)God’s interests, but man’s.”
33 But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.
33 But turning around and looking at His disciples, He rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind Me, Satan,(AQ) because you’re not thinking about God’s concerns,(e) but man’s!”
33 He was speaking about this matter quite openly.
34 Then he called the crowd to him with his disciples and said to them, "If anyone wishes to follow me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and so follow me;
34 And He summoned the crowd with His disciples, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and (AH)take up his cross and follow Me.
34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
34 Summoning the crowd along with His disciples, He said to them, “If anyone wants to be My follower, he must deny himself,(AR) take up his cross,(AS) and follow Me.(AT)
34 Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. But turning and looking at his disciples, Jesus rebuked Peter, saying, "Get behind me, Satan, because you're not thinking God's thoughts, but human thoughts!"
35 for whoever wants to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel's will save it.
35 For (AI)whoever wishes to save his (t)life will lose it, but whoever loses his (u)life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.
35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.

36 What profit is it for a man to gain the whole world and to forfeit his soul?
36 For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?
36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
36 because whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and for the gospel will save it.
38 Whoever is ashamed of me and my words in this disloyal and sinful generation, the Son of man will be ashamed of him when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
38 For (AJ)whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, (AK)the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He (AL)comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”
38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
38 For whoever is ashamed(BH) of Me and of My words(BI) in this adulterous and sinful(BJ) generation,(BK) the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory(BL) of His Father(BM) with the holy(BN) angels.”(BO)
