4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,
4 And He answered and said, “Have you not read (E)that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female,
4 “Haven’t you read,” He replied, “that He who created(a) them in the beginning made them male and female,”(E)(b)

5 and said - For this cause, will a man leave his father and his mother, and be united to his wife, - and, the two, will become, one flesh;
5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
5 and said, ‘(F)For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and (G)the two shall become one flesh’?
5 and He also said:“For this reason a man will leavehis father and motherand be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh?(F)(c)
5 and said, "That is why a man will leave his father and mother and be united with his wife, and the two will become one flesh'?
6 So that, the longer, are they, two, but, one flesh, What, therefore, God, hath yoked together, Let not, a man, put asunder.
6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.”
6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, man must not separate.”
6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, man must never separate."

7 “Why then,” they asked Him, “did Moses command us to give divorce papers(G) and to send her away?”
7 They asked him, "Why, then, did Moses order us "to give a certificate of divorce and divorce her'?"
8 He saith unto them - Moses, in view of your hardness of heart, permitted you to divorce your wives; From the beginning however, hath it not been done, thus.
8 He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.
8 He *said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart Moses permitted you to (d)divorce your wives; but from the beginning it has not been this way.
8 He told them, “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because of the hardness of your hearts. But it was not like that from the beginning.

9 And I say unto you - Whosoever shall divorce his wife, saving for unfaithfulness, and shall marry another, committeth adultery.
9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
9 And I say to you, (I)whoever (e)divorces his wife, except for (f)immorality, and marries another woman (g)commits adultery(h).”
9 And I tell you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery.”(d)(H)
9 I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery."
10 The disciples say unto him - If, so, is the cause of the husband with the wife, it is not expedient to marry.

11 But, he, said unto them - Not all, find room for he word, save they to whom it hath been given;
11 But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given.
11 But He said to them, “(J)Not all men can accept this statement, but (K)only those to whom it has been given.
11 "Not everyone can accept this saying," he replied, "except those to whom celibacy has been granted,
12 For there, are, eunuchs, who, from their mother's womb, were born so, and there, are, eunuchs, who were made eunuchs, by men, - and there, are, eunuchs, who have made, themselves, eunuchs, for the sake the kingdom of the heavens: He that is able to find room, let him find room.
12 For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.
12 For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother’s womb; and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men; and there are also eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. He who is able to accept this, let him accept it.”
12 For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother’s womb, there are eunuchs who were made by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves that way because of the kingdom of heaven. Let anyone accept this who can.”
12 because some men are celibate from birth, while some are celibate because they have been made that way by others. Still others are celibate because they have made themselves that way for the sake of the kingdom from heaven. Let anyone accept this who can."

14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
14 But Jesus said, “(i)(M)Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for (N)the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
14 Then Jesus said, “Leave the children alone, and don’t try to keep them from coming to Me, because the kingdom of heaven is made up of people like this.”(e)(L)

17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
20 The young man *said to Him, “All these things I have kept; what am I still lacking?”
20 The young man told him, "I have kept all of these. What do I still lack?"
21 Jesus said unto him - If thou desirest to be perfect, Withdraw! sell thy substance, and give to the destitute, - and thou shalt have treasure in the heavens; and come! be following me.
21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
