A Leper Cleansed

1 As he went down from the mountain, great crowds followed him.

1 When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.

1 When (a)Jesus came down from the mountain, (b)large crowds followed Him.

1 When He came down from the mountain, large crowds(A) followed Him.

1 When Jesus came down from the hillside, large crowds followed him.

2 And behold! a leper came and knelt before him, saying, "Lord if you choose, you can make me clean."

2 And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

2 And (A)a leper came to Him and (c)(B)bowed down before Him, and said, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”

2 Right away(B) a man with a serious skin disease came up and knelt before Him,(C) saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”

2 Suddenly, a leper came up to him, fell down before him, and said, "Sir, if you want to, you can make me clean."

3 Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him "I do choose," he said, "become clean," and immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy.

3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

3 Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” And immediately his (C)leprosy was cleansed.

3 Reaching out His hand He touched him, saying, “I am willing; be made clean.” Immediately his disease was healed.(a)

3 So Jesus reached out his hand, touched him, and said, "I do want to. Be clean!" And instantly his leprosy was made clean.

4 Jesus said to him, "See that you tell no one, but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift which Moses commanded, as an evidence to them."

4 And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

4 And Jesus *said to him, (D)See that you tell no one; but (E)go, (F)show yourself to the priest and present the (d)offering that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”

4 Then Jesus told him, “See that you don’t tell anyone;(D) but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses prescribed, as a testimony to them.”(E)

4 Then Jesus told him, "See to it that you don't speak to anyone. Instead, go and show yourself to the priest, and then offer the sacrifice that Moses commanded as proof to the authorities."

A Centurion's Slave Healed

5 When he entered Capernaum, an army captain came, and entered him,

5 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,

5 And (G)when (e)Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, imploring Him,

5 When He entered Capernaum,(F) a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him,

5 When Jesus returned to Capernaum, a centurion came up to him and begged him repeatedly,

6 saying, "Lord, my slave at home is lying ill with paralysis, in terrible agony."

6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.

6 and saying, “(f)Lord, my (g)servant is (h)lying (H)paralyzed at home, fearfully tormented.”

6 “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, in terrible agony!”

6 "Sir, my servant is lying at home paralyzed and in terrible pain."

7 "I will come and heal him," said Jesus.

7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.

7 Jesus *said to him, “I will come and heal him.”

7 “I will come and heal him,” He told him.

7 Jesus told him, "I will come and heal him."

8 "Lord, "said the captain in reply, "I am not worthy to have you under my roof, but speak the word only, and my slave will be cured,

8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.

8 But the centurion said, “(i)Lord, I am not worthy for You to come under my roof, but just (j)say the word, and my (k)servant will be healed.

8 “Lord,” the centurion replied, “I am not worthy to have You come under my roof. But only say the word, and my servant will be cured.(G)

8 The centurion replied, "Sir, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed,

9 "For I myself also am a man under authority, and I have soldiers under me. To one man I say 'Go,' and he goes; to another, 'Come,' and he comes; and to my slave, 'Do this,' and he does it."

9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

9 For I also am a man under (I)authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to this one, ‘Go!’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come!’ and he comes, and to my slave, ‘Do this!’ and he does it.”

9 For I too am a man under authority, having soldiers under my command.(b) I say to this one, ‘Go!’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come!’ and he comes; and to my slave, ‘Do this!’ and he does it.”

9 because I, too, am a man under authority and I have soldiers under me. I say to one of them "Go' and he goes, to another "Come' and he comes, and to my servant "Do this' and he does it."

10 As Jesus listened to this reply he was astonished, and said to those who followed him. "In solemn truth I tell you that I have found faith like this in any Israelite.

10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

10 Now when Jesus heard this, He marveled and said to those who were following, “Truly I say to you, I have not found such great faith (l)with anyone in Israel.

10 Hearing this, Jesus was amazed and said to those following Him, “I assure you: I have not found anyone in Israel with so great a faith!

10 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and told those who were following him, "I tell all of you with certainty, not even in Israel have I found this kind of faith!

11 "I tell you that many will come from the east and from the west, and sit down with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.

11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

11 I say to you that many (J)will come from east and west, and (m)recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven;

11 I tell you that many will come from east and west, and recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.(H)

11 I tell all of you, many will come from east and west and will feast with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom from heaven.

12 "but the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into the outer darkness; there will be the wailing and the gnashing of teeth."

12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

12 but (K)the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into (L)the outer darkness; in that place (M)there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

12 But the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”(I)

12 But the unfaithful heirs of that kingdom will be thrown into the darkness outside. In that place there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth."

13 Then Jesus said to the captain. "Go! As you have believed, so be it unto you." And his slave was healed in that very hour.

13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

13 And Jesus said to the centurion, “Go; (n)it shall be done for you (N)as you have believed.” And the (o)servant was healed that very (p)moment.

13 Then Jesus told the centurion, “Go. As you have believed,(J) let it be done for you.” And his servant was cured that very moment.(c)

13 "Go," Jesus told the centurion, "and it will be done for you, just as you have believed." And his servant was healed that very hour.

17 that the word spoken through Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, He took upon himself our weaknesses, and bore the burden of our diseases.

17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

17 This was to fulfill what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet: “(R)He Himself took our infirmities and (s)carried away our diseases.”

17 so that what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled:He Himself took our weaknessesand carried our diseases.(N)(d)

17 This was to fulfill what was declared by the prophet Isaiah when he said, "It was he who took our illnesses away and removed our diseases."

25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

25 And they came to Him and woke Him, saying, “(X)Save us, Lord; we are perishing!”

25 So the disciples came and woke Him up, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to die!”

25 They went to him and woke him up. "Lord!" they cried, "Save us! We're going to die!"

26 "Why are you afraid?" he said, "you men of little faith!" Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there came a great calm.

27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

27 The men were amazed, and said, “What kind of a man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”

Demon-Possessed Gadarenes Healed

28 When he arrived on the other side, in the country of the Gadarenes, he was met by two demoniacs who were coming out of the tombs. They were so violently fierce that no one dared pass along that road.

28 And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.

28 (Z)When He came to the other side into the country of the Gadarenes, two men who were (AA)demon-possessed met Him as they were coming out of the tombs. They were so extremely violent that no one could pass by that way.

28 When He had come to the other side,(V) to the region of the Gadarenes,(i) two demon-possessed men met Him as they came out of the tombs. They were so violent that no one could pass that way.

28 When Jesus arrived on the other side in the region of the Gerasenes, two demon-possessed men met him as they were coming out of the tombs. They were so violent that no one could travel on that road.

29 "You Son of God," they shouted, "what have you to do with us? Are you come to torment us before the time?"

29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

29 And they cried out, saying, “(y)(AB)What business do we have with each other, Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before (z)the time?”

29 Suddenly they shouted, “What do You have to do with us,(j)(k) Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?”(W)

29 Suddenly, they screamed, "What do you want with us, Son of God? Did you come here to torture us before the proper time?"

30 Now there was, at some distance from them, a herd of many swine feeding;

30 And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding.

30 Now there was a herd of many swine feeding at a distance from them.

30 Now a long way off from them, a large herd of pigs was feeding.

30 Now a large herd of pigs was grazing some distance away from them.

31 and the demons began entreating him. "If you are driving us out," they said, "send us into the herd of swine."

31 So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.

31 The demons began to entreat Him, saying, “If You are going to cast us out, send us into the herd of swine.”

31 “If You drive us out,” the demons begged Him, “send us into the herd of pigs.”

31 So the demons began to plead with Jesus, saying, "If you drive us out, send us into that herd of pigs."

32 He answered, "Go!" So they came out of the men, and went into the swine, and behold! the entire herd rushed headlong down from the cliff into the sea, and perished in the water.

32 And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.

32 And He said to them, “Go!” And they came out and went into the swine, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and perished in the waters.

32 “Go!” He told them. So when they had come out, they entered the pigs. And suddenly the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and perished in the water.

32 He told them, "Go," and they came out and went into the pigs. Suddenly, the whole herd rushed down a steep slope into the sea and drowned in the water.

33 The swineherds fled. They went away into the city and told all about it, and what had befallen the demoniacs.

33 And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils.

33 The herdsmen ran away, and went to the city and reported everything, (aa)including what had happened to the (AC)demoniacs.

33 Then the men who tended them fled. They went into the city and reported everything—especially what had happened to those who were demon-possessed.

33 Now when those who had been taking care of the pigs ran away, they came into the city and reported everything, especially what had happened to the demon-possessed men.

34 At once all the citizens came out to meet Jesus; and when they had seen him, they begged him to move away from their country.

34 And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.

34 And behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus; and when they saw Him, (AD)they implored Him to leave their region.

34 At that, the whole town went out to meet Jesus. When they saw Him, they begged Him to leave their region.(X)

34 Then the whole city went out to meet Jesus, and as soon as they saw him, they begged him to leave their region.
