God said to Abraham, “As for your wife Sarai, do not call her Sarai, for Sarah
Abraham fell facedown. Then he laughed
But God said, “No. Your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will name him Isaac.
But I will confirm My covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you at this time next year.”
So Abraham hurried into the tent and said to Sarah, “Quick! Knead three measures
“Where is your wife Sarah?” they asked him.
“There, in the tent,” he answered.
The Lord said, “I will certainly come back to you in about a year’s time, and your wife Sarah will have a son!”
Abraham and Sarah were old and getting on in years.
And Sarah will laugh within her, saying, After it has not been to me till now, and my lord, being old.
But the Lord asked Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Can I really have a baby when I’m old?’
Shall the word of Jehovah be difficult, at the appointed time? I will return to thee, according to the time of life, and a son to Sarah.
Sarah denied it. “I did not laugh,” she said, because she was afraid.
But He replied, “No, you did laugh.”
Abraham said about his wife Sarah, “She is my sister.”
Then Abimelech took sheep and cattle and male and female slaves, gave them to Abraham, and returned his wife Sarah to him.
And he said to Sarah, “Look, I am giving your brother 1,000 pieces of silver. It is a verification of your honor
for the Lord had completely closed all the wombs in Abimelech’s household on account of Sarah, Abraham’s wife.
The Lord came to Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah what He had promised.
Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the appointed time God had told him.
Abraham named his son who was born to him—the one Sarah bore to him—Isaac.
Sarah said, “God has made me laugh, and everyone who hears will laugh with me.”
She also said, “Who would have told Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have borne a son for him
But Sarah saw the son mocking
Sarah's demand displeased Abraham greatly because Ishmael was his son.
But God said to Abraham, “Do not be concerned
Now Sarah lived 127 years; these were all the years of her life.

So Sarah laughed to herself, saying, "After I am worn out, and my lord is old, shall I have pleasure?" The LORD said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh and say, 'Shall I indeed bear a child, now that I am old?' Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son." But Sarah denied it, saying, "I did not laugh," for she was afraid. He said, "No, but you did laugh."

So Abraham rose early in the morning and took bread and a skin of water and gave it to Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, along with the child, and sent her away. And she departed and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.

Now then, return the man's wife, for he is a prophet, so that he will pray for you, and you shall live. But if you do not return her, know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours." So Abimelech rose early in the morning and called all his servants and told them all these things. And the men were very much afraid. Then Abimelech called Abraham and said to him, "What have you done to us? And how have I sinned against you, that you have brought on me and my kingdom a great sin? You have done to me things that ought not to be done." And Abimelech said to Abraham, "What did you see, that you did this thing?" Abraham said, "I did it because I thought, There is no fear of God at all in this place, and they will kill me because of my wife. Besides, she is indeed my sister, the daughter of my father though not the daughter of my mother, and she became my wife. And when God caused me to wander from my father's house, I said to her, 'This is the kindness you must do me: at every place to which we come, say of me, He is my brother.'" Then Abimelech took sheep and oxen, and male servants and female servants, and gave them to Abraham, and returned Sarah his wife to him.
