Matthew 24:3-8 - Signs Of The End Of The Age

³ He sat on the Mount of Olives. The disciples came to him privately, saying: Tell us when these things will be? What will be the sign of your presence and of the end of the age?

⁴ Jesus answered: Be careful that no man misleads you. ⁵ Many will come in my name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. ⁶ You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. Do not be troubled, for this must happen, but the end is not yet. ⁷ Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in many places. ⁸ These things are the beginning of birth pains (Greek: odin': in the throws of pain, such as childbirth).

³ He sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple. Peter, James, John and Andrew asked him privately: ⁴ Tell us when will these things be? What will be the sign when these things are all about to be accomplished?

⁵ Jesus warned them: Take heed that no man lead you astray. ⁶ Many will come in my name (Greek: onoma: claiming my authority), saying, I am he; and will lead many astray. ⁷ When you hear of wars and rumors (reports) of wars do not be troubled. These things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. ⁸ Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places. There will be famines. These things are the beginning of pain (sorrow) (trouble).

⁷ They asked him: Teacher, when would these things take place? What will be the sign when these things are about to come to pass?

⁸ He said: Take heed that you are not led astray. Many will come in my name, saying, I am he but the time is not at hand. Do not follow them. ⁹ When you hear of wars and disturbances do not be terrified. These things must occur first. The end is not immediate.

¹⁰ Then he said: Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. ¹¹ There will be great earthquakes. There will be famines and pestilences in various places. There shall be terrors and great signs from heaven.
