Then the two choirs took their stand in the house of God. So did I and half of the officials with me;

From that day forward, half of my men were doing the work and half of them were taking up spears, shields, bows, and body armor. Now the officers were behind all the people of Judah

Hoshaiah and half of the leaders of Judah followed them,

So we went on with the work: and half of them had spears in their hands from the dawn of the morning till the stars were seen.

And the second praised going about to the front, and I after it, and, half the people above to the wall, above to the tower of the furnaces and even to the broad wall;

The whole congregation as one man, was two and forty thousand, three hundred and threescore;

And the wall was finished on the five and twentieth day of the month Elul, in two and fifty days.

All the Nethinims, and the children of Solomon's servants, were all together three hundred and two and ninety.

And the porters, Akkub, Talmon, and their brethren that kept the ports, were a hundred and two and seventy.

And their children were talking half in the language of Ashdod; they had no knowledge of the Jews' language, but made use of the language of the two peoples.

Next to them Rephaiah the son of Hur, the official of half the district of Jerusalem, made repairs.

After him the Levites carried out repairs under Rehum the son of Bani. Next to him Hashabiah, the official of half the district of Keilah, carried out repairs for his district.

After him their brothers carried out repairs under Bavvai the son of Henadad, official of the other half of the district of Keilah.

Shallum son of Hallohesh, head of a half-district of Jerusalem, worked on the section adjacent to him, assisted by his daughters.

So we rebuilt the wall until the entire wall was joined together up to half its height, for the people had the will to keep working.
