Why then has this people of Jerusalem slid back by a perpetual backsliding? They hold firm deceit. They refuse to return.

Thy habitation is in the midst of deceit. Through deceit they refuse to know me, says LORD.

This evil people, who refuse to hear my words, who walk in the stubbornness of their heart, and have gone after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this sash, which is good for nothing.

And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup at thy hand to drink, then thou shall say to them, Thus says LORD of hosts: Ye shall surely drink.

But if thou refuse to go forth, this is the word that LORD has shown me:

Thus says LORD of hosts: The sons of Israel and the sons of Judah are oppressed together, and all who took them captive hold them firm; they refuse to let them go.
