But Geshur and Aram took from them Havvoth-jair, with Kenath and its villages, sixty towns in all. All these were the sons (descendants) of Machir, the father of Gilead.

The sons of Manasseh: Asriel, whom his Aramean concubine bore; she gave birth to Machir the father of Gilead.

Now this was the lot (allotment) for the tribe of Manasseh, for he was the firstborn of Joseph. To Machir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead, were allotted Gilead and Bashan, because he was a man of war.

The son of Ulam: Bedan. These were the sons of Gilead the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh.

The sons of Manasseh: of Machir, the family of the Machirites (and Machir was the father of Gilead); of Gilead, the family of the Gileadites. These are the sons of Gilead: of Iezer, the family of the Iezerites; of Helek, the family of the Helekites;

Then the [five] daughters of Zelophehad the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, from the tribes of Manasseh [who was] the son of Joseph, approached [with a request]. These are the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

The leaders of the fathers’ households of the family of the sons of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph, approached and spoke before Moses and before the leaders, the heads of the fathers’ households of the Israelites,

But Zelophehad the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, had no sons, only daughters; and these are the names of his daughters: Mahlah and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah.

Later, when Hezron was sixty years old, he married the daughter of Machir the father of Gilead, and she bore him Segub.

The sons of Manasseh: of Machir, the family of the Machirites; and Machir was the father of Gilead; of Gilead, the family of the Gileadites.


After Hezron died in Caleb-ephrathah, Abijah, Hezron’s wife, bore him Ashhur the father of Tekoa.

And Caleb the son of Hezron had sons by his wife Azubah and by Jerioth. Azubah’s sons were: Jesher, Shobab, and Ardon.

The sons of Hezron who were born to him: Jerahmeel, Ram, and Chelubai [that is, Caleb].

Later, when Hezron was sixty years old, he married the daughter of Machir the father of Gilead, and she bore him Segub.

The sons of Perez: of Hezron, the family of the Hezronites; of Hamul, the family of the Hamulites.

The sons of Perez: Hezron and Hamul.

of Hezron, the family of the Hezronites; of Carmi, the family of the Carmites.


Tamar, Judah's daughter-in-law, bore him Pharez and Zerah. All Judah's sons were five. The sons of Pharez: Hezron and Hamul.

Later, when Hezron was sixty years old, he married the daughter of Machir the father of Gilead, and she bore him Segub. Segub was the father of Jair, who had twenty-three cities in the land of Gilead.
