As when one plows and breaks up the soil,
turning up rocks,
so our bones have been scattered
at the mouth of Sheol.


A voice was saying, “Cry out!”
Another said, “What should I cry out?”
“All humanity is grass,
and all its goodness is like the flower of the field.





Know well the condition of your flock, and pay attention to your herds, for wealth is not forever; not even a crown lasts for all time.

Does papyrus grow where there is no marsh? Do reeds flourish without water? While still uncut shoots, they would dry up quicker than any [other] plant. Such is the destiny of all who forget God; the hope of the godless will perish. read more.
His source of confidence is fragile; what he trusts in is a spider's web. He leans on his web, but it doesn't stand firm. He grabs it, but it does not hold up.

As for man, his days are like grass- he blooms like a flower of the field; when the wind passes over it, it vanishes, and its place is no longer known.

Truthful lips endure forever,
but a lying tongue, only a moment.

I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with my mind I myself am a slave to the law of God, but with my flesh, to the law of sin.

I say then, walk by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. Now the works of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, moral impurity, promiscuity, idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambitions, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and anything similar, about which I tell you in advance-as I told you before-that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.









Therefore Sheol enlarges its throat
and opens wide its enormous jaws,
and down go Zion’s dignitaries, her masses,
her crowds, and those who carouse in her!

For the Lord said this to me: “Within one year, as a hired worker counts years, all the glory of Kedar will be gone.

“‘Son of man, know that on the day I take their stronghold from them, their pride and joy, the delight of their eyes and the longing of their hearts, as well as their sons and daughters,

The more they multiplied,
the more they sinned against Me.
I will change their honor into disgrace.

Listen to the wail of the shepherds,
for their glory is destroyed.
Listen to the roar of young lions,
for the thickets of the Jordan are destroyed.









You end their lives; they sleep.
They are like grass that grows in the morning—

but the one who is rich [should boast] in his humiliation, because he will pass away like a flower of the field. For the sun rises with its scorching heat and dries up the grass; its flower falls off, and its beautiful appearance is destroyed. In the same way, the rich man will wither away while pursuing his activities.

You end their life; they sleep. They are like grass that grows in the morning- in the morning it sprouts and grows; by evening it withers and dries up.
