As Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.

As soon as they left the synagogue, they went with James and John, and entered the house of Simon and Andrew.

Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, "Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?"

As he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax office, and he said to him, "Follow me." So he rose and followed him. And as he sat at table in Levi's house, many tax collectors and sinners were sitting with Jesus and his disciples; for there were many who followed him.

After this he went out, and saw a tax collector, named Levi, sitting at the tax office; and he said to him, "Follow me." And he left everything, rose up and followed him. Then Levi made him a great feast in his house; and there were a great number of tax collectors and others sitting at table with them.

Then Levi made him a great feast in his house; and there were a great number of tax collectors and others sitting at table with them.

And when our days there were ended, we left and started on our journey, while they all, with wives and children, brought us on our way until we were out of the city. After kneeling down on the beach and praying, we said farewell to one another.

When he had said this, he knelt down and prayed with them all.

And when they had entered, they went up to the upper room, where they were staying; Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot and Judas the son of James. All these with one mind devoted themselves to prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.


When he realized this, he went to the house of Mary, the mother of John who was also called Mark, where many were gathered together and were praying.

And when they had entered, they went up to the upper room, where they were staying; Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot and Judas the son of James. All these with one mind devoted themselves to prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.
