For He hath spoken somewhere concerning the seventh day thus: "And God rested on the seventh day from all His works;" and, in this place, again: "They shall not enter into My rest." Since, therefore, it remains for some to enter into it, and those to whom the Gospel was formerly proclaimed entered not in because of unbelief, again He designateth a certain day, "To-day" (saying in David, after so long a time, as has been before said), "To-day, if ye hear His voice, harden not your hearts." For, had Joshua given them rest, He would not afterward have spoken of another day. Consequently, there remains a sabbath-keeping for the people of God. For He Who entered into His rest, Himself also rested from his works, as God did from His Own. Let us, therefore, give diligence to enter into that rest, that no one fall after the same example of unbelief.
