Concerning whom we have many things to say, and hard to be explained, seeing ye are become dull of hearing. For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again, which are the first principles of the oracles of God, and are become such as have need of milk and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unexperienced in the word of righteousness; for he is a babe. read more.
But strong meat belongeth to them of full age, to them who have their senses exercised by habit to discern both good and evil.

Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on to perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith in God, Of the doctrine of baptisms and laying on of hands, and the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. For it is impossible for those who were once inlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and been made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, And have fallen away, to renew them again unto repentance, seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh often upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them for whom it is tilled, receiveth blessing from God. But that which beareth thorns and briars is rejected and nigh unto a curse, whose end is to be burned. But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak. For God is not unrighteous, to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. But we desire that every one of you would shew unto the end the same diligence, to the full assurance of hope, That ye be not slothful, but followers of them, who through faith and long suffering inherited the promises. For when God made the promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he swore by himself, Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. For men verily swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all contradiction.




and considereth it not, the wicked one cometh, and catcheth away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the way-side. But he who received the seed in stony places, is he that heareth the word, and immediately receiveth it with joy. Yet hath he not root in himself, and so endureth but for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, straight-way he is offended. read more.
He that received the seed among the thorns, is he that heareth the word: and the care of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.




For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not from the beginning of the world to this time, nor ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake, those days shall be shortened. Then if any say to you, Lo here is Christ, or there; believe it not. read more.
For false Christs and false prophets shall arise and shew great signs and wonders, so that they would deceive (if it were possible) even the elect. Behold I have told you before.

Those on the rock are they, who, when they hear, receive the word with joy. But they have no root, who for a while believe; but in time of temptation fall away. That which fell among thorns are they, who, having heard, go forth, and are choked with cares, and riches, and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.

We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because your faith groweth exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth. So that we ourselves glory of you in the churches of God, for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and sufferings which ye endure: A manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be accounted, worthy of the kingdom of God; for which also ye suffer.
