But he who received the seed in stony places, is he that heareth the word, and immediately receiveth it with joy. He that received the seed among the thorns, is he that heareth the word: and the care of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.




For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not from the beginning of the world to this time, nor ever shall be. Those on the rock are they, who, when they hear, receive the word with joy. But they have no root, who for a while believe; but in time of temptation fall away. That which fell among thorns are they, who, having heard, go forth, and are choked with cares, and riches, and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
