Lift up thine eyes, and look about thee: all these shall gather them together, and come to thee. As truly as I live, sayeth the LORD, thou shalt put them all upon thee as an apparel, and gird them to thee, as an bride doth her jewels.

Lift up thine eyes round about and see. All these are gathered together and are come unto thee. Thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be ever by thy side. Then thou shalt see, and shalt have plenty: thine heart shall wonder and break out in joy, when the multitude of the sea are turned to thee, and the armies of the heathen are come unto thee. All the cattle of Cedar shall be gathered unto thee, the rams Nebaioth shall serve thee, to be offered upon mine altar, which I have chosen, and in the house of my glory which I have garnished. But what are these that flee here like clouds, and as the doves flying to their windows? With thy wisdom and thy understanding, thou hast gotten thee great wealthiness, and gathered treasure of silver and gold.

their silver shall lie in the streets, and their gold shall be despised. Yea, their silver and gold may not deliver them in the day of the fearful wrath of the LORD. They shall not satisfy their hungry souls, neither fill their empty bellies therewith: For it is become their own decay through their wickedness:


Possess not gold, nor silver, nor brass in your girdles,

Forasmuch as ye know how that ye were not redeemed with corruptible gold and silver from your vain conversation, which ye received by the traditions of the fathers,

And Jonah made him ready to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and gat him down to Joppa, and found there a ship ready to go to Tarshish, and paid his fare, and went aboard, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.

We were all together in the ship, two hundred and three score and sixteen souls.

The burden of Tyre. Mourn, ye ships of Tarshish, for there cometh such destruction that ye shall not have a house to enter into. Out of the land of Chittim they have knowledge of this plague.

For the sea ships which the king had in the sea, with the ships of Hiram, came every third year laden with gold, silver, ivory, apes and peacocks.

For the king's ships went to Tarshish with the servants of Hiram once every three years. And the ships of Tarshish brought gold, silver, the teeth of elephants, apes and peacocks.

namely, wood; silver, which is brought out of Tarshish, and beaten to plates; and gold from Ophir, a work that is made with the hand of the craftsman and the caster, clothed with yellow silk and scarlet: even so is the work of their wise men altogether.

Tarshish occupied with thee in all manner of wares: in silver, iron, tin and lead, and made thy market great.

The ships of Tarshish were the chief of thy occupying. Thus thou art full, and in great worship, even in the midst of the sea.

Then shall Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish with all their worthies, say unto thee, 'Art thou come to rob? Hast thou gathered thy people together, because thou wilt spoil? To take silver and gold; to carry away cattle and goods; and to have a great prey?'

And he coupled himself with him, to make ships to go to Tarshish. And they made the ships in Eziongeber.

upon all ships of Tarshish, and upon everything that is glorious and pleasant to look upon.

Thou shalt break the ships of the sea, through the east wind.

Be ashamed, thou Sidon, for the sea - even the strength of the sea - hath spoken, saying: "I have not traveled, nor brought forth children, nor nourished up young men, or brought up virgins." As soon as Egypt perceiveth it, she will be as sorry as Tyre itself. Get you to Tarshish; mourn ye that dwell in the Isles. Is not that the glorious city, which hath been of long antiquity? Whose natives dwelling far off, commend her so greatly? Who hath devised such things upon Tyre the crown of all cities, whose merchants and Captains were the highest and principal of the world? Even the LORD of Hosts hath devised it, that he may put down all pomp, and minish all the Glory of the world. Go through thy land, O thou daughter of the sea, as men go over the water; for thou hast no more strength. He that smote the kingdoms together holdeth out his hand over the sea: even the LORD himself hat given a commandment against that mighty Canaan, to root it out. And he said, "From hence forth shalt thou make no more mirth, O thou daughter of Sidon: for thou shalt be put down. Stand up therefore, and get thee over unto Chittim, where nevertheless thou shalt have no rest. Behold, for thine example: The Chaldeans were such a people, that no man was like them, Assyria builded them: he set up his castles and palaces, and broke them down again. Mourn, ye ships of Tarshish, for your power shall be thrown down.


The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall give presents; the kings of Sheba and Seba shall bring gifts.

The isles also shall gather them unto me, and especially the ships of the sea: that they may bring the sons from far, and their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the LORD thy God, unto the holy one of Israel, that hath glorified thee.

Unto them shall I give a token, and send certain of them that be delivered among the Gentiles: into Tarshish, Put and Lud, where men can handle bows; into Tubal also and Javan. The isles far off, that have not heard speak of me, and have not seen my glory, shall preach my praise among the Gentiles
