For I belong to the lowest rank of the apostles, and am not fit to bear the title apostle, because I once persecuted the church of God. But by God's unmerited favor I have become what I am, and His unmerited favor shown to me was not bestowed for nothing, for I have toiled more extensively than any of them, and yet it was not I but God's unmerited favor working with me.

for which I was called to serve in accordance with the gift of God's unmerited favor which was bestowed on me by the exercise of His power-- yes, on me, the very least of all His people, this unmerited favor was bestowed -- that I might preach as good news to the heathen the boundless riches of Christ,

So then, whoever becomes as lowly as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven,

You younger men, on your part, must be submissive to the elders. And you must all put on the servant's apron of humility to one another, because God opposes the haughty but bestows His unmerited favor on the humble. Therefore humbly submit to God's strong hand, so that at the proper time He may exalt you.
