And having fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterwards hungry. And the tempter coming to him said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answering said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Being forty days tempted by the devil. And in those days he ate nothing, and when they were ended he hungered. And the devil said to him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

And leaving them, he went out of the city to Bethany and lodged there. Now in the morning, as he was returning to the city he hungered. And seeing a fig-tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon but leaves only. And he saith to it, Let no fruit grow on thee hence-forward for ever. read more.
And presently the fig-tree withered away. And the disciples seeing it marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig-tree withered away? Jesus answering said to them, Verily I say to you, if ye have faith and doubt not, ye shall not only do this to the fig-tree, but also if ye shall say to this mountain, Be thou lifted up, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. And all things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

And seeing a fig-tree afar off, having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and coming to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not a season of figs. And he answering said to it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever: And his disciples heard it.

they saw the fig-tree dried up from the roots. And Peter remembring, saith to him, Master, behold the fig-tree which thou cursedst is withered away. And Jesus answering saith to them, Have faith in God. read more.
For verily I say to you, Whosoever shall say to this mountain, Be thou removed and cast into the sea, and not doubt in his heart, but believe that the things which he saith shall come to pass, he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say to you, What things soever ye ask in prayer, believe that ye shall receive, and ye shall have them.
