be instant in season, out of season; convince, rebuke, exhort, with all long-suffering and teaching.

Those that sin, rebuke before all, that the rest may fear.

This witness is true; therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

For there are many unruly vain-talkers and deceivers, especially they of the circumcision,

And again he sent another, and him they killed; and many others, beating some and killing some. Having yet therefore one son his well-beloved, he sent him also last to them, saying, They will reverence my son. But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours. And they took him and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard. What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard to others. And have ye not read this scripture? The stone which the builders rejected, is become the head of the corner? This was the Lord's doing, and it was marvellous in our eyes. And they sought to seize him, but feared the multitude; for they knew he had spoken the parable against them; and leaving him, they went away.

Hear another parable. There was a certain housholder, who planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a wine-press in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country. And when the season of fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, to receive the fruits of it. And the husbandmen taking his servants, beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. read more.
Again he sent other servants more than the first; and they did to them likewise. Last of all he sent to them his Son, saying, They will reverence my Son. But the husbandmen seeing the Son, said among themselves, This is the heir; come let us kill him and seize on his inheritance. And taking him, they cast him out of the vineyard and slew him. When therefore the Lord of the vineyard cometh, what will he do to those husbandmen? And the chief priests and the Pharisees, hearing his parables, knew he spoke of them. But when they sought to apprehend him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.

How do ye not understand, that I spake not to you concerning bread, to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Saducees?

Do ye not yet understand nor remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

But wo to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; for ye shut the kingdom of heaven against men: ye go not in, neither suffer ye them that are entring to go in.

Ye hypocrites, well did Isaiah prophecy of you, saying,

Whomsoever I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous and repent.

Then Jesus said, Let her alone; against the day of my burial hath she kept this.

And on the morrow, as they were coming from Bethany, he was hungry. And seeing a fig-tree afar off, having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and coming to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not a season of figs. And he answering said to it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever: And his disciples heard it.

And leaving them, he went out of the city to Bethany and lodged there. Now in the morning, as he was returning to the city he hungered. And seeing a fig-tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon but leaves only. And he saith to it, Let no fruit grow on thee hence-forward for ever. read more.
And presently the fig-tree withered away. And the disciples seeing it marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig-tree withered away?

And he said to them, Why are ye so fearful? How is it, that ye have not faith?

But being terrified and affrighted, they thought they saw a spirit. And he said to them, Why are ye troubled? and why do reasonings arise in your hearts?

Then he said to them, O foolish, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!

And Jesus answering said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you? Bring thy son hither.

Then the Parisees and Saducees came and tempting, desired him to shew them a sign from heaven. He answering said to them, In the evening ye say, It will be fair weather; for the sky is red: And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day; for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye know to discern the face of the sky: can ye not discern the signs of the times? read more.
A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh a sign; but there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah. And he left them and departed.

And the Pharisees came forth and questioned with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him. And sighing deeply in his spirit, he said, Why doth this generation seek a sign? Verily I say to you, There shall no sign be given to this generation.

Afterwards he appeared to the eleven, sitting at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them who had seen him after he was risen.

And Jesus knowing it saith to them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? Perceive ye not yet, neither consider? Have ye your heart yet hardened?

Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

Now we exhort you, brethren, warn the disorderly, comfort the feeble-minded, support the weak, be long suffering toward all men.

that came forth to be baptized of him, Ye brood of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance; and say not within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father; for I say to you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham. And now also the axe lieth at the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit, is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

But seeing many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, Ye serpents, ye brood of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? And the Lord said to him, Now ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the dish; but your inward part is full of rapine and wickedness. read more.
Ye unthinking men, did not he that made the outside, make the inside also? But give what is in them in alms, and behold all things are clean to you. But wo to you, Pharisees; for ye tythe mint and rue and all herbs; and pass by justice and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Wo to you, Pharisees; for ye love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and salutations in the markets. Wo to you; for ye are as graves which appear not, and men that walk over them are not aware. And he said, Wo to you lawyers also; for ye load men with burthens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burthens with one of your fingers. Wo to you; for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets; whom your fathers killed. Truly ye bear witness that ye approve the deeds of your fathers: for whom they killed, ye build their sepulchres. Therefore also the wisdom of God hath said, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will slay, and persecute the rest. So that the blood of all the prophets shed from the foundation of the world, shall be required of this generation. From the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who was destroyed between the temple and the altar: verily I say to you, it shall be required of this generation. Woe to you, lawyers; for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye have not entered in yourselves; and them that were entering in, ye have hindered. And as he said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began fiercely to fasten upon him, and to urge him to speak of many things, Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him.

All scripture is inspired of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

But all things which are reproved are made manifest by the light; for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

That ye may be blameless and simple, the sons of God, unrebukable, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world,

Then began he to upbraid the cities, wherein most of his mighty works had been done, because they repented not. Wo to thee, Chorazin, wo to thee, Bethsaida: for if the mighty works which have been done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. Moreover I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment than for you. read more.

And now behold the hand of the Lord is upon thee; and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately a mist and darkness fell upon him, and going about, he sought some to lead him.

But Peter said to him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought to purchase the gift of God with money. Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right before God. Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thy heart may be forgiven thee. read more.

as your fathers, so do ye. Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? And they have slain them that shewed before of the coming of the Just One, of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers: Who have received the law by the administration of angels, and have not kept it.

But the other answering, rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?

And he said, I tell thee, Peter, it shall not be the time of cockcrowing this day, before thou wilt thrice deny that thou knowest me.

And all in the synagogue hearing these things, were filled with fury, And rising up, thrust him out of the city, and brought him to the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, to cast him down headlong.

For John had said to Herod, It is not lawful for thee, to have thy brother's wife. Therefore Herodias was incensed against him, and was desirous to have killed him; but she could not.

Jesus answered them and said, Verily I say to you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were satisfied.

And Peter taking hold of him, rebuked him. But he turning about, and looking on his disciples rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan; for thou savourest not the things of God, but the things of men.

He spake also this parable. A man had a fig-tree planted in his vineyard; and he came, seeking fruit thereon and found none. Then said he to the keeper of the vineyard, Behold three years I come seeking fruit of this fig tree, and find aone: cut it down: why doth it also cumber the ground? And he answering said to him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it and dung it. read more.
Perhaps it may bear fruit: but if not, after that thou shalt cut it down.

And as they continued asking him, he raised himself and said to them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

Then said Paul to him, God is about to smite thee, thou whited wall. For sittest thou to judge me according to the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law?
