Then a dispute rose among them, which of them should be greatest. And Jesus knowing the thought of their heart, took a child and set him by Him, and said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this little child for my sake, receiveth me: and he that receiveth me, receiveth Him that sent me. For he that is lest among you all, shall be great.

Wo will be to the world from such offenses; for it is of necessity that offenses come: but wo to that man by whom the offense cometh. If then thy hand or thy foot cause thee to offend, cut them off and cast them from thee; it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire: and if thine eye cause thee to offend, pluck it out and cast it from thee; it is better for thee to enter into life with but one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell-fire. See that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I tell you, that their angels in heaven do continually appear in the presence of my father, who is in heaven:

But John answered Him and said, Master, we saw one casting out demons in thy name, who doth not follow us; and we forbade him, because he followeth not us. But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no one, that worketh a miracle in my name, and can presently speak evil of me: for he that is not against us, is for us. read more.
For whosoever shall give you but a cup of water to drink, for my sake; because ye are Christ's, I assure you, he shall not lose his reward. And whosoever shall cause one of these little ones, that believe in me, to offend, it were better for him, if a milstone were laid upon his neck, and he were cast into the sea.

Then said He to the disciples, It is impossible that offences should not come: but wo to him by whom they come. It were better for him that a milstone were hung about his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should cause one of these little ones to offend.
