Dead flies cause the oil of the perfumer to send forth an evil odor;'so doth a little folly outweigh wisdom and honor.

The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge; But the mouth of fools feedeth on folly.


Then I saw that wisdom excelleth folly, as far as light excelleth darkness.

Shall vain words have an end? Or what provoketh thee that thou answerest? I also could speak as ye do; If your soul were in my soul's stead, I could join words together against you, And shake my head at you.

Who is this that darkeneth counsel By words without knowledge?

Answer not a fool according to his folly, Lest thou also be like unto him.

Slander not a servant unto his master, Lest he curse thee, and thou be held guilty.

The beginning of the words of his mouth is foolishness; and the end of his talk is mischievous madness. A fool also multiplieth words: yet man knoweth not what shall be; and that which shall be after him, who can tell him?


In the lips of him that hath discernment wisdom is found; But a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.

He that despiseth his neighbor is void of wisdom; But a man of understanding holdeth his peace.

Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; But a man of understanding will draw it out.


He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: He that keepeth understanding shall find good.

A scoffer seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not; But knowledge is easy unto him that hath understanding.

Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever; for wisdom and might are his. And he changeth the times and the seasons; he removeth kings, and setteth up kings; he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that have understanding;

For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof; But by men of understanding and knowledge the state thereof'shall be prolonged.

Doth not wisdom cry, And understanding put forth her voice? On the top of high places by the way, Where the paths meet, she standeth; Beside the gates, at the entry of the city, At the coming in at the doors, she crieth aloud: read more.
Unto you, O men, I call; And my voice is to the sons of men. O ye simple, understand prudence; And, ye fools, be of an understanding heart. Hear, for I will speak excellent things; And the opening of my lips shall be right things. For my mouth shall utter truth; And wickedness is an abomination to my lips. All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; There is nothing crooked or perverse in them. They are all plain to him that understandeth, And right to them that find knowledge.

Wisdom is before the face of him that hath understanding; But the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.
