and a stranger is a narrow well;

and the one who breaks through a wall may be bitten by a snake.

He dug a pit and hollowed it out, but fell into the hole he had made. His trouble comes back on his own head, and his violence falls on the top of his head.

Don’t let the floodwaters sweep over me
or the deep swallow me up;
don’t let the Pit close its mouth over me.

The arrogant have dug pits for me;
they violate Your instruction.
