You have joy, Israel! Who is like you? You are a people delivered by the Lord, your protective shield and your exalted sword. May your enemies cringe before you; may you trample on their backs.



O Israel, trust in the Lord! He is their deliverer and protector.



Do not add a thing to what I command you nor subtract from it, so that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God that I am delivering to you.

You must not worship the Lord your God the way they do! For everything that is abhorrent to him, everything he hates, they have done when worshiping their gods. They even burn up their sons and daughters before their gods! You must be careful to do everything I am commanding you. Do not add to it or subtract from it!

Every word of God is purified; he is like a shield for those who take refuge in him. Do not add to his words, lest he reprove you, and prove you to be a liar.


The Lord strengthens and protects me; I trust in him with all my heart. I am rescued and my heart is full of joy; I will sing to him in gratitude. The Lord strengthens his people; he protects and delivers his chosen king.

As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people, now and forevermore.



Certainly you reward the godly, Lord. Like a shield you protect them in your good favor.

The Lord both kills and gives life; he brings down to the grave and raises up. The Lord impoverishes and makes wealthy; he humbles and he exalts. He lifts the weak from the dust; he raises the poor from the ash heap to seat them with princes and to bestow on them an honored position. He watches over his holy ones, but the wicked are made speechless in the darkness, for it is not by one's own strength that one prevails.

The one true God acts in a faithful manner; the Lord's promise is reliable; he is a shield to all who take shelter in him.

The one who says "I have come to know God" and yet does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in such a person.


Look, the Lord's hand is not too weak to deliver you; his ear is not too deaf to hear you. But your sinful acts have alienated you from your God; your sins have caused him to reject you and not listen to your prayers. No one is concerned about justice; no one sets forth his case truthfully. They depend on false words and tell lies; they conceive of oppression and give birth to sin.

"I will not overlook, O sinful house, the dishonest gain you have hoarded away, or the smaller-than-standard measure I hate so much. I do not condone the use of rigged scales, or a bag of deceptive weights. The city's rich men think nothing of resorting to violence; her inhabitants lie, their tongues speak deceptive words.

(Tsade) You are just, O Lord, and your judgments are fair. The rules you impose are just, and absolutely reliable. My zeal consumes me, for my enemies forget your instructions. read more.
