A Psalm of David. Fret not thyself because of evil doers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.



Let us not be desirous of vain-glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.


Let not thy heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long.

Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.

But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us, that denying ungodliness, and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and piously, in this present world;

But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write to you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. read more.
But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all children of light, and children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep, sleep in the night; and they that are drunken, are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breast-plate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.


The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: therefore withdraw from contention, before it be meddled with.


Go not forth hastily to strive, lest thou know not what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbor hath put thee to shame. Debate thy cause with thy neighbor himself; and reveal not a secret to another: Lest he that heareth it put thee to shame, and thy infamy turn not away.



Strive not with a man without cause, if he hath done thee no harm.
