so that no one would be disturbed by these afflictions; for you yourselves know that we have been destined for this.
All this has come upon us, but we have not forgotten You, And we have not dealt falsely with Your covenant. Our heart has not turned back, And our steps have not deviated from Your way, Yet You have crushed us in a place of jackals And covered us with the shadow of death.
Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Just as it is written, "FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG; WE WERE CONSIDERED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED." Then when he arrived and witnessed the grace of God, he rejoiced and began to encourage them all with resolute heart to remain true to the Lord;

But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.

but Christ was faithful as a Son over His house—whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end.

Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.
It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.
They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
