Thematic Bible

And he that taketh not his cross and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life, shall lose it; and he that loseth his life for my sake, shall find it. He that entertaineth you, entertaineth me;

And when he had called the people to him, with his disciples also, he said to them, Whosoever is willing to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow me. For whosoever will save his life, shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life, for my sake and the gospels, he shall save it.

And he said to all, if any man be willing to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow me. For who|oever will save his life shall gose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake, he shall save it: For what is a man profited, if he gain the whble world, and lose himself, or be cast away? read more.
For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's and that of the holy angels.

The wife is bound as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to marry whom she will; only in the Lord. But she is happier, if she continue as she is, in my judgment; and I think that I also have the Spirit of God.

Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote to me, It is good for a man, not to touch a woman. Yet, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife; and let every woman have her own husband. Let the husband render the debt to the wife; and in like manner the wife also to the husband. read more.
The wife hath not power over her own body, but the husband; and in like manner the husband also hath not power over his own body, but the wife. Withdraw not from each other, unless it be by consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to prayer, and may come together again, lest Satan tempt you through your incontinence. But I say this by way of advice, not by way of precept. For I would that all men were even as myself: but every one hath his proper gift from God, one after this manner, another after that. But to the unmarried and the widows I say, It is good for them, if they remain even as I. But if they have not power over themselves, let them marry; for it is better to marry than to burn.

Now concerning virgins, I have no commandment from the Lord: but I give my judgment, as one who hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful. I apprehend therefore, that this is good for the present distress, that it is good for a man to continue as he is.

The unmarried man careth for the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord. But the married careth for the things of the world, how he may please his wife.

We know that the law is spiritual; but I am carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do I approve not; for what I would, I do not, but what I hate, that I do. If then I do what I would not, I consent to the law, that it is good. read more.
Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good, I find not. For the good that I would, I do not; but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now, if I do that which I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God, after the inward man. But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and captivating me to the law of sin, which is in my members. Wretched man that I am!
