But I tell you that whoever divorces his wife for any other ground than unfaithfulness, causes her to commit adultery, and whoever marries a wife who is thus divorced commits adultery.

I tell you, whoever divorces his wife for any other cause than her unfaithfulness, and marries another woman, commits adultery."

Any man who divorces his wife to marry another woman commits adultery, and the man who marries the woman divorced from her husband commits adultery.

For a married woman is bound by law to her husband while he lives, but if her husband dies, she is freed from the marriage bond.

"It was also said, 'Whoever divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.'

"It was also said, 'Whoever divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.' But I tell you that whoever divorces his wife for any other ground than unfaithfulness, causes her to commit adultery, and whoever marries a wife who is thus divorced commits adultery.

Marriage must be held in honor by all, and the marriage relations kept sacred. Persons who are sexually vicious and immoral God will punish.

So they are no longer two but one. Therefore, what God has joined together man must stop separating."

A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. If her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she pleases, except that he must be a Christian.

Some Pharisees came up, and to test Him they began to ask Him whether a man should be allowed to divorce his wife. And He answered them by asking, "What has Moses commanded you about it?" They answered, "Moses allowed a man to divorce his wife, if he wrote out a divorce charge."read more.
But Jesus said to them, "It was due to your moral perversity that Moses wrote that command in your law. But from the beginning of the creation, 'God made them male and female. Therefore, a man must leave his father and mother, and he and his wife must become one,' so they are no longer two but one. Therefore, what God has joined together man must stop separating." On reaching the house the disciples again asked Him about this. So He said to them, "If any man divorces his wife to marry another woman, he commits adultery against his former wife, and if any woman divorces her husband to marry another man, she commits adultery."

To the people already married I give this instruction -- no, not I but the Lord -- that a wife is not to leave her husband.

they said to Him, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In our law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now, what do you say?" They were asking this to trap him so that they might have something to accuse him of. But Jesus stooped and began to write in the dirt with his finger. When the questioners persisted, Jesus straightened up and said to them, "Let the one of you who is sinless be the first one to cast a stone at her." Then Jesus again stooped and continued writing in the dirt. Having heard, they began to leave one by one, starting with the eldest, until only Jesus was left with the woman. He straightened up and said to her, "Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?" And she said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said, "Neither do I condemn you. Go. Stop sinning from this point on."

But if she does leave him, she must remain single, or better, be reconciled to her husband. I instruct the husband too not to divorce his wife.

So He said to them, "If any man divorces his wife to marry another woman, he commits adultery against his former wife, and if any woman divorces her husband to marry another man, she commits adultery."

To the rest of the people I myself would say -- though the Lord Himself has said nothing about it -- if a Christian has a wife that is not a believer and she consents to live with him, he must not divorce her;read more.
and a woman who has a husband that is not a believer, but he consents to live with her, must not divorce her husband. For the unbelieving husband is consecrated by union with his wife and the unbelieving wife by union with her Christian husband, for otherwise your children would be unblessed, but in this way they are consecrated. But if the unbelieving consort actually leaves, let the separation stand. In such cases the Christian husband or wife is not morally bound; God has called us to live in peace.

But her husband, Joseph, because he was an upright man and did not want to disgrace her, decided to break the engagement by secretly divorcing her.

"You have heard it was said, 'You must not commit adultery.'

Therefore, what God has joined together man must stop separating."

But if the unbelieving consort actually leaves, let the separation stand. In such cases the Christian husband or wife is not morally bound; God has called us to live in peace.

"You have heard it was said, 'You must not commit adultery.' But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman so as to have an evil desire for her at once has already committed adultery with her in his heart, So if your right eye causes you to do wrong, pluck it out of your way; for it is better to have one part of your body suffer loss than to have your whole body go down to the pit.read more.
And if your right hand causes you to do wrong, cut it off and put it out of your way, for it is better to have one part of your body suffer loss than to have your whole body go down to the pit.

A case of immorality is reported as actually existing among you, an immorality unheard of even among the heathen that a man cohabits with his father's wife.

"If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, and still more, his own life too, he cannot be a disciple of mine.

Even if he sins against you seven times in a day and seven times turns to you and says, 'I am sorry,' you must forgive him."

The man that you forgive I too forgive. For if I have forgiven him anything, it is what I have forgiven him in the very presence of Christ for your sake,

Do you not know that wrongdoers will not have a share in the kingdom of God? Stop being misled; people who are sexually immoral or idolaters or adulterers or sensual or guilty of unnatural sexual vice

But the cowards, the unfaithful, the polluted, the murderers, the sexually immoral, the practicers of magic, the worshipers of idols, and all liars will have their portion in the lake that keeps on burning with fire and brimstone. This is the second death."

but because of so much sexual immorality every man should have a wife of his own, and every woman a husband of her own. The husband must always give his wife what is due her, and the wife too must do so for her husband. The wife does not have the right to do as she pleases with her own body; the husband has his right to it. In the same way the husband does not have the right to do as he pleases with his own body; the wife has her right to it.read more.
You husbands and wives must stop refusing each other what is due, unless you agree to do so just for awhile, so as to have plenty of time for prayer, and then to be together again, so as to keep Satan from tempting you because of your lack of self-control.

Though God overlooked those times of ignorance, He now commands all men everywhere to repent,

in a flame of fire, who will take vengeance on those who do not know God, that is, those who will not listen to the good news of our Lord Jesus.
