But He answered, "Why do you too break God's command for the sake of the rules that have been handed down to you?
you cling to what men hand down. You are fine teachers to cancel what God commanded, in order to keep what men have handed down!
Then Paul and Barnabas courageously spoke out, "God's message had to be spoken to you Jews first, but since you continue to thrust it from you and since you show yourselves unworthy to receive eternal life, now and here we turn to the heathen. For here are the orders that the Lord has given us: 'I have made you a light to the heathen, To be the means of salvation to the very ends of the earth.'"
Though God overlooked those times of ignorance, He now commands all men everywhere to repent,
Although they know full well God's sentence that those who practice such things deserve to die, yet they not only practice them but even applaud others who do them.
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by command of God our Saviour and of Christ Jesus our hope,
but at the proper time made known as His message through the message that I preach with which I have been entrusted by the command of God our Saviour;
His command is this, that we should believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ and practice loving one another, just as He commanded us to do.
This is the command that we get from Him, that whoever loves God loves his brother too.
I give you a new command, to love one another. Just as I have loved you, you too must love one another.
And He said to them, "Why are you afraid, O you with little faith?" Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. And the men were dumbfounded, and said, "What sort of man is this, for even the winds and the sea obey Him!"
Then He aroused Himself and reproved the wind, and said to the sea, "Hush! Be still." And the wind lulled, and there was a great calm. Then He asked them, "Why are you afraid? Have you no faith yet?" They were very much frightened, and said to one another, "Who can He be that even the wind and the sea obey Him?"
So they came to Him and woke Him up, and said, "Master, Master, we are perishing? Then He aroused Himself and reproved the wind and the surge of the water, and they stopped at once and instantly there came a calm. Then He said to them, "Where is your faith?" But they were frightened and astounded, and continued to say to one another, "Who can He be? For He gives orders even to the winds and the water, and they obey Him."
Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptize them into the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to practice all the commands that I have given you. And I myself will surely be with you all the days, down to the very close of an age."
Jesus reproved him, saying, "Hush up, get out of him!" Then the foul spirit convulsed him and with a deafening shriek got out of him. They were all so dumbfounded that they kept discussing it among themselves, and asking, "What does this mean? It is a new teaching. He gives orders with authority even to foul spirits, and they obey Him."
But Jesus reproved him, saying "Be quiet! Get out of him at once!" So the demon threw the man down in the midst of them and came out of him without doing him any harm. Amazement then seized them all and they continued to talk it over among themselves, and to say, "What does this message mean? For with authority and power He gives orders to foul spirits, and they come out."
But He strictly charged them to let nobody know about it, and told them to give her something to eat.
And her parents were astounded, but He ordered them not to tell anyone what had taken place.
Then Jesus, because He saw that a crowd was rushing up to Him, reproved the foul spirit and said to it, "You deaf and dumb spirit, get out of him, I charge you, and never get into him again."
This is my command to you, to keep on loving one another as I have loved you.
Just so the Lord has issued orders that those who preach the good news shall get their living out of it.
He also ordered us to proclaim to the people and solemnly to testify that this is the One whom God has appointed to be the Judge of the living and the dead.
To the people already married I give this instruction -- no, not I but the Lord -- that a wife is not to leave her husband. But if she does leave him, she must remain single, or better, be reconciled to her husband. I instruct the husband too not to divorce his wife.
If anyone claims to have the prophetic spirit, or any other spiritual gift, let him recognize that what I now am writing is the Lord's command.
For you are aware of the instructions which we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.

But they kept shouting in the crowd, some one thing, some another. As he could not with certainty find out about it, because of the tumult, he ordered him to be brought into the barracks.

For after every regulation in the law had been spoken by Moses to all the people, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water, crimson wool, and a bunch of hyssop, and sprinkled the book containing the law and all the people, saying, "This is the blood that ratifies the covenant which God commanded me to make with you."
Then Jesus said to him, "See that you tell nobody, but go, show yourself to the priest, and, to testify to the people, make the offering that Moses prescribed."
"See that you tell nobody a single word about it. Be gone, show yourself to the priest, and to prove it to the people, make the offering for your purification which Moses prescribed."
Then they asked Him, "Why did Moses command us to give a written divorce charge, and in this way to divorce a wife?" He answered them, "It was because of your moral perversity that Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but it was not so from the beginning.
And He answered them by asking, "What has Moses commanded you about it?" They answered, "Moses allowed a man to divorce his wife, if he wrote out a divorce charge."
Sin found its rallying point in that command and stirred within me every sort of evil desire, for without law, sin is lifeless. I was once alive when I had no connection with the law, but when the command came, sin revived, and then I died; and so, in my case, the command which should have meant life turned out to mean death.read more.
For sin found its rallying point in that command and through it deceived me and killed me. So the law itself is holy, and its specific commands are holy, right, and good. Did that which is good, then, result in death to me? Of course not! It was sin that did it, so that it might show itself as sin, for by means of that good thing it brought about my death, so that through the command sin might appear surpassingly sinful.

and so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, "I am terrified and terror-stricken!"
