The birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came to dwell together, she was found with child by the holy ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a perfect man, and loath to make an example of her, was minded to put her away secretly. While he thus thought, Behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: For that which is conceived in her is of the holy ghost.read more.
She shall bring forth a son; and thou shalt call his name Jesus: For he shall save his people from their sins." All this was done, to fulfill that which was spoken of the Lord by the Prophet saying, "Behold, a maiden shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which is by interpretation, God with us." And Joseph, as soon as he awoke out of sleep, did as the angel of the Lord bade him, and took his wife unto him: and knew her not till she had brought forth her first son: and called his name Jesus.
And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, to a virgin espoused to a man, whose name was Joseph, of the house of David: and the virgin's name was Mary. And the angel went in unto her, and said, "Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women."read more.
When she saw him, she was abashed at his saying: and cast in her mind what manner of salutation that should be. And the angel said unto her, "Fear not Mary, for thou hast found grace with God. Lo: thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Jesus. He shall be great, and shall be called the son of the highest. And the Lord God shall give unto him the seat of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom shall be none end." Then said Mary unto the angel, "How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?" And the angel answered, and said unto her, "The holy ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the highest shall overshadow thee. Therefore also that holy thing which shall be born, shall be called the son of God. And behold, thy cousin Elizabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age. And this is her sixth month, though she be called barren, for with God can nothing be impossible." And Mary said, "Behold the handmaiden of the Lord, be it unto me even as thou hast said." And the angel departed from her.
There shall come a rod out of the stock of Jesse, and a branch shall spring out of his root. And on him shall light the spirit of the LORD: the spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the spirit of counsel and of strength, the spirit of knowledge and of reverence, and it shall make him savour of the fear of the LORD And he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes: neither shall rebuke after the hearing of his ears.read more.
But he shall judge the causes of the poor with righteousness, and shall rebuke with equity for the humble of the earth. And he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall slay the wicked. No man shall do evil to another, no man shall destroy another, in all the hill of my Sanctuary. For the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, even as though the water of the sea flowed over the earth. Then shall the Gentiles enquire after the root of Jesse, which shall be set up for a token unto the Gentiles; for his dwelling shall be glorious.
And thou Bethlehem Ephrata, art little among the thousands of Judah: Out of thee shall come one, unto me, which shall be the governour in Israel: whose outgoing hath been from the beginning, and from everlasting.
Neverthelater, yet the Lord, he will give you a sign. Behold: a virgin shall be with child, and shall bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
And it chanced, in those days, that there went out a commandment from Augustus the Emperor, that all the world should be taxed. And this taxing was the first executed, and when Quirinius was leftenant in Syria. And every man went unto his own city, there to be taxed.read more.

And wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them within, in the inn. And there were in the same region shepherds abiding in the field, and watching their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord stood hard by them, and the brightness of the Lord shone round about them, and they were sore afraid. But the angel said unto them, "Be not afraid: For behold, I bring you tidings of great joy, that shall come to all the people: for unto you is born this day in the city of David a saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And take this for a sign: ye shall find the child swaddled, and laid in a manger." And straightway there was with the angel a multitude of heavenly soldiers, lauding God, and saying, "Glory to God on high: and peace on the earth, and unto men, rejoicing." And it fortuned, as soon as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, "Let us go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing that is happened, which the Lord hath showed unto us." And they came with haste, and found Mary and Joseph, and the babe laid in a manger. And when they had seen it, they published abroad the saying, which was told them of that child. And all that heard it wondered, at those things which were told them of the shepherds. But Mary kept all those sayings, and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, praising and lauding God for all that they had heard and seen, even as it was told unto them.

When Jesus was born at Bethlehem in Jewry in the time of Herod the king, Behold, there came wise men from the East to Jerusalem, saying, "Where is he that is born King of the Jews? We have seen his star in the East and are come to worship him."
And in another place Isaiah saith, "There shall be the root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the gentiles: in him shall the gentiles trust." The God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may be rich in hope through the power of the holy ghost.
Moreover, God spake unto Ahaz, saying, "Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God, from alow beneath, or from on high above." But Ahaz answered, "I will not ask, neither will tempt the LORD."read more.

The God of patience and consolation give unto every one of you, that ye be like likeminded one towards another after the example of Jesus Christ: that ye, all agreeing together, may with one mouth praise God the father of our Lord Jesus.read more.

This John had his garment of camel's hair, and a girdle of a skin about his loins; his meat was locusts and wild honey. Even now is the axe put unto the root of the trees: so that every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. I baptise you in water in token of repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptise you with the holy ghost and with fire: Which hath also his fan in his hand, and will purge his floor, and gather the wheat into His garner; and will burn the chaff with unquenchable fire."

This also we know, I mean the season: how that it is time that we should now awake out of sleep. For now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is past and the day is come nigh. Let us therefore cast away the deeds of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly as it were in the daylight: not in eating and drinking: neither in chambering and wantonness: neither in strife and envying:read more.

Moreover the voice cried thus, "Go up unto the hill, O Zion, thou that bringest good tidings; lift up thy voice with power, O thou preacher Jerusalem. Lift it up without fear, and say unto the cities of Judah, 'Behold, your God!' Behold the LORD, even the Almighty, shall come with power, and bear rule with his arm. Behold, he bringeth his treasure with him, and his works go before him. He shall feed his flock like a herdsman. He shall gather the lambs together with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall kindly entreat those that bear young.
