So Peter was kept in prison, but prayer was being made earnestly to God for him by the church.

These do so out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel;

Is anyone among you sick? He should call for the elders of the church, and they should pray over him after anointing him with olive oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will restore him to health; if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. and the consolation from my lips would bring relief.

I directed their course and presided as chief.

like one who comforts those who mourn.

He comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

Therefore encourage one another with these words.

if I have seen anyone dying for lack of clothing
or a needy person without a cloak,

and if you offer yourself to the hungry,
and satisfy the afflicted one,
then your light will shine in the darkness,
and your night will be like noonday.

Still, you did well by sharing with me in my hardship.
