I don’t say this out of need, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.

I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and enjoy the good life.
This is why, if I come, I will remind him of the works he is doing, slandering us with malicious words. And he is not satisfied with that! He not only refuses to welcome the brothers himself, but he even stops those who want to do so and expels them from the church.

Otherwise, I might have too much
and deny You, saying, “Who is the Lord?”
or I might have nothing and steal,
profaning the name of my God.
Were you called while a slave? It should not be a concern to you. But if you can become free, by all means take the opportunity.
Some soldiers also questioned him: “What should we do?”
He said to them, “Don’t take money from anyone by force or false accusation; be satisfied with your wages.”
