Do you not remember that when I was with you I told you of these things? And now you know what hinders him from being revealed in his time. For the mystery of wickedness already works, [God] only restrains it just now, till it shall be out of the way; and then shall the wicked one be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of his mouth and destroy with the brightness of his coming, whose coming is according to the power of Satan, with all power and miracles and false prodigies and with every unrighteous deceit among those who are destroyed, because they received not the love of the truth that they might be saved. And therefore, God sends them a power of delusion that they should believe a lie, that they all may be condemned who believe not the truth but have pleasure in wickedness.

Little children, it is the last time; and as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many have become anti-christs; whence we know that it is the last time. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us they would have continued with us; but [they went out from us] that they might be manifest that they are not all of us.

BELOVED, believe not every spirit, but prove the spirits whether they are of God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God; every spirit which confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit which does not confess Jesus is not of God.
