For from inside the heart of men proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetings, wickednesses, deceit, licentiousness, an evil eye, reviling, pride, foolishness.
In the pride of the wicked man the poor man is hotly pursued. Let them be taken in the devices that they have conceived. For the wicked man boasts of his heart's desire. For I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. For there are no pangs in their death, but their strength is firm. They are not in trouble as [other] men, nor are they plagued like [other] men.read more.
Therefore pride is as a chain around their neck. Violence covers them as a garment. Their eyes stand out with fatness. They have more than heart could wish. Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scoffing of those who are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.
Excellent speech is not appropriate to a fool, much less lying lips to a prince.
The proud and haughty man, scoffer is his name. He works in the arrogance of pride.
