And, if also one contends in the games, he is not crowned, unless he contends lawfully.
And every one who strives in the games exercises self restraint in all things; they, indeed, therefore, to receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible. I, therefore, so run, as not uncertainly I so fight, as not beating the air. But I buffet my body, and bring it into bondage; lest, by any means, after having preached to others, I myself should be rejected.
Know ye not that those running a race, all, indeed, run; but one receives the prize? So run; that ye may obtain.
for bodily exercise is profitable for a little; but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life which is present and that to come.
Or know ye not that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, Who is in you, Whom ye have from God, and that ye are not your own? For ye were bought with a price; glorify God, therefore, in your body.
All chastening, indeed, for the present seems not to be joyous, but grievous; but afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained thereby. Wherefore, lift up the relaxed hands and the feeble knees, and make straight paths for your feet, that the lame be not turned out of the way, but rather be healed.
