26 Bible Verses about Avoiding Idolatry

Do not make an idol for yourself, whether in the shape of anything in the heavens above or on the earth below or in the waters under the earth.

“Then I said to their children in the wilderness: Don’t follow the statutes of your fathers, defile yourselves with their idols, or keep their ordinances.

I will also sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. I will cleanse you from all your impurities and all your idols.

They will not defile themselves anymore with their idols, their detestable things, and all their transgressions. I will save them from all their apostasies by which they sinned, and I will cleanse them. Then they will be My people, and I will be their God.

There are some Jews you have appointed to manage the province of Babylon: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. These men have ignored you, the king; they do not serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.”

For the Israelites must live many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred pillar, and without ephod or household idols.

Then I saw thrones, and people seated on them who were given authority to judge. Little children, guard yourselves from idols.

Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry.

And what agreement does God’s sanctuary have with idols? For we are the sanctuary of the living God, as God said:

I will dwell among them
and walk among them,
and I will be their God,
and they will be My people.

for they themselves report what kind of reception we had from you: how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God

But now I am writing you not to associate with anyone who claims to be a believer who is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or verbally abusive, a drunkard or a swindler. Do not even eat with such a person.
